User :   I broke my radius and ulna a year and half ago. i currently have a plate on my radius and had my Ulna pinned (had it removed 6 months ago). I still get large amounts of pain at the point of break whenever i lift anything heavy or hold something at the wrong angle? What should i do? is it normal?
Doctor :   Hi,
Doctor :   Dr raju here
User :   Hi Dr Raju
Doctor :   It is expected that you may have pain even for months or a year
User :   okay
Doctor :   that is not only due to the fracture you had also due to the surgery
Doctor :   Since they are thin long bones, healing is expected fast but surely with pain as the tensile strength will be low
Doctor :   The cancellous coat of bone is thin when compared to other long bones of the body
Doctor :   hence they easily break and heal faster too
User :   okay
User :   would it fix anything if i got the plate removed? or make it worse?
Doctor :   Plates are to help healing , they do help
Doctor :   better over al other modalities of treatment
User :   fair enough!
User :   thank you for all your help!
Doctor :   Apply pain killer ointments they will help
User :   Thanks
