User :   My wife has a problem with feeding our baby
Doctor :   Hi
User :   Good Morning Doctor
Doctor :   please proceed with the query
User :   Our baby is 45 days old
Doctor :   ok
User :   He has been feeding normally for the 1st month
Doctor :   ok
User :   recently in the past 2 weeks, his intake has increased and my wife is not able to give him enough milk
Doctor :   ok
User :   He cries violently and we resort to give him normal milk once in a while
User :   this happend once last week
Doctor :   ok
User :   and twice this week
Doctor :   ok
User :   if she skips one time , then in the next time say after 4 hours, she is okay and full
Doctor :   ok
User :   but unitl now she was giving every 2 hours
Doctor :   ok
User :   we are worried and the baby crying because of lack of milk is very distrubing to both of us
Doctor :   ok
User :   the baby is also not satisfied to drink milk from spoon when we do the replacement
Doctor :   may i ask you few relevant questions
User :   sure
Doctor :   may i know if the child has symptoms like fever, diarrhea , or get very tired often
User :   no nothing, baby is doing fine
Doctor :   ok , does your wife have any other symptoms?
User :   no she had a c- section and is recovering fine till now
Doctor :   ok ,
User :   she is having a balanced diet and is relaxed at home
Doctor :   on an average is the milk coming fine from breast , are there any obstruction she feels or breasts getting harder?
Doctor :   any difficulty in extraction of milk?
User :   until recently she did not have any problems, recently she says it is not getting heavy sometimes as it is supposed to
User :   no if she is full things are normal and the child is also sucking the milk correclty
Doctor :   ok
User :   she also gets help from her mother for holding and latching properly
Doctor :   this crying in your child is only when he is not fed , or is it all the time
User :   our feeling is that there is some problem in the milk secretion....
User :   no only when he is hungry
Doctor :   ok
User :   the usual 2 hour frequency
Doctor :   let me explain it to you
Doctor :   we generally expect it to be called good feeding from breasts as long as the mother is able to feed the child often
User :   once he gets his milk he sleeps peacefuly...only whe nthe milk is not enough he cries and we supplement it
Doctor :   and as long as the breasts are secreting good amount of ilk
User :   ok
Doctor :   i would not suggest you go for milk supplement as for 6 months we need to aim at exclusive breast feeding and nothing else
User :   ok
Doctor :   there are supplements available fro the mother to take and increase her breast milk
Doctor :   this comes as lactogen granules
User :   one of our friends recommended lactogen....
User :   powder...
User :   should it be taken by my wife?
Doctor :   Lactogen granules are available with specific brands depending on the location that you stay.
Doctor :   A gynecologist at your place will know about them.
Doctor :   You may hence visit your doctor, who after examination will prescribe them to the mother.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Cow's milk are
Doctor :   not suggested in a 45 day old infant.
User :   is there any alternative when my wife feels the milk is not enough and the baby is crying for want of more milk...?
Doctor :   as they can produce effects as the infants digestive system.
User :   is it okay to divery the baby with some other distraction and wait for the next two hours..?
User :   divert*
Doctor :   Infants cry when hungry.
Doctor :   It is probably the milk secretion is not satisfied with its hunger.
Doctor :   Having said this, without a physical examination, I cannot confirm my opinion.
User :   ok
Doctor :   If it is lack of milk, then there are alternative measures available.
Doctor :   Let me suggest those to you.
Doctor :   1. As as suggested the lactogen granules which can improve mother nutrition which helps in secretion more milk by the mother.
User :   ok
Doctor :   2. Top of milk - there are commercially available lactogen powders which contains similar nutrients as compared to mother's milk
Doctor :   They again are not equivalent to mother's milk
Doctor :   by just similar to them.
Doctor :   They can be fed to the infant.
User :   ok
Doctor :   But only after the initial evaluation by doctor.
User :   so the lactogen powder can be used in the worst case....yes I understand I will take he to the doctor as sonn as possible
Doctor :   3. Other additional measures which have been proved to improve mother's milk secretions are
Doctor :   a. Increasing body between mother and child - both emotional and physical bonding.
Doctor :   b. Increased frequency and duration of contact with mothers breast by the infants.
Doctor :   c. Proper feeding technique.
Doctor :   d. Using alternative breast while feeding than single breast.
Doctor :   Apart from this there are many other measures which can be suggested after the initial evaluation.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   ok... we will try this definitely
User :   yes I have followed and also noted down
Doctor :   You can consult a pediatrician who will be able to guide you through in these circumstances.
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   sure I will do that
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   Thank you very much. I do not have any other query
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me.
User :   Your suggestions were very useful
Doctor :   Have a nice day!!!
User :   Thank you very much
Doctor :   Bye for now.
User: Bye....
