User :   Hi doctor, I have hypothryoidism. I would like to reduce my weight of 74 Kgs by 10 kgs. Pls suggest me the ways I could reduce my weight.
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   May I know your age and gender?
Doctor :   Are you on treatment for hypothyroidism?
Doctor :   Have you recently checked your TSH levels?
User :   I am 38 yrs old female
Doctor :   May I also know your current height?
User :   yes, i take 50 mg thyrocine daily. my TSH level is 1.5. my height is 4 ft 11 inches
Doctor :   Have you tried any weight reducing programmes/measures
User :   presently i am going for an ayurveda panchakarma and udvartna massage program but not much effect is found
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me explain to you.
Doctor :   Weight changes are affected by many factors, most important of them are genetic factors, diet factors, current lifestyle and endocrine factors.
Doctor :   Your TSH levels are currently in normal limits which is good.
Doctor :   As a general physician, my knowledge with Ayurveda and massage programmes is limited,
Doctor :   hence I cannot give valid information regarding the benefits of those programmes,
Doctor :   however medically my suggestions are these
Doctor :   1. You need to supplement these programmes with proper diet and exercise
Doctor :   2. Include lifestyle modifications to support these programme
User :   I am following the diet given by them
Doctor :   3. Regularly monitor your thyroid hormones and modify the medications regularly.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Since when are you on this diet plan?
User :   should i check my thyroid once in a month
User :   i am on diet plan from 31st january
Doctor :   It is advisable that you keep your thyroid hormones(TSH levels) checked atleast 3 months or as suggested by your doctor.
Doctor :   Diet and exercises should complement each other.
Doctor :   Scientifically speaking, diet and exercise plans
Doctor :   produce gradual results
Doctor :   One expects slow weight reduction
Doctor :   which is expected to happen by 3-4 months time.
User :   how to take care of iron deffiency
Doctor :   Rarely weight loss is expected to happen with diet earlier than 3 months.
Doctor :   If you feel that the present diet plan isn't working properly in achieving your goal,
Doctor :   I think its time that you consider changing the diet
Doctor :   get a good diet plan through an expert nutritionist.
User :   I have been not eat rice completely
User :   basically, i joined this programme for my tummy tuck
Doctor :   And complement this diet plan with good physical activity such as brisk early morning walks, cardiothoracic exercises such as thread mill test.
Doctor :   Tummy tuck is a surgical procedure that sucks out extra fat.
Doctor :   This is again a good option.
User :   how long should i run on the treadmill
Doctor :   But I would suggest this as a last resort to reduce weight.
User :   what will the cost of tummy tuck surgery
Doctor :   Thread mill and brisk walking should be started off slowly and gradually increased.
Doctor :   You can start initially with 15 minutes to 20 minutes
Doctor :   and gradually increase it to as much as you can tolerate.
User :   what should be my ideal weight for my age and height
Doctor :   Again this needs to be practised on daily basis
Doctor :   and not once is a while.
Doctor :   Your ideal weight is between 43 to 56kgs.
Doctor :   Any weight around 50 to 55 kg will be the best body weight
Doctor :   that i recommend.
User :   but i think that it would be very difficult to acheive to reduce to that weight
Doctor :   I understand this.
Doctor :   But I suggest you to break your goals to small targets.
Doctor :   Since diet and exercises produce gradual reduction in weight,
User :   due to thyroid problem, my skin has become dry and pls suggest me few skincare tips
Doctor :   Dry skin is a chronic problem again can only be prevented and not completely cured.
Doctor :   You will need to use daily and regular moisturisers
Doctor :   supplement it with plenty of water
Doctor :   drinking
Doctor :   and using vitamin rich food.
Doctor :   These measures will reduce or prevent dryness of skin.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
