Doctor :   Hi
User :   Dear Doctor, I do have a question.
User :   Hi
Doctor :
How can i help you?
User :   I think that my question is for a GYN specialty. But, I hope you can help
User :   I have a yellow thich discarge that I experience multiple times a day
User :   I have been tested for all sorts of tests and recently everything came out negative
User :   Previously they found streptacaucus and the gave me antibiotics and I also used some herbal medicine. Some of the things worked for a while but my symptoms are back
Doctor :   May i know your age and since when do you have this?
User :   I am 30 years old
User :   I've had this problem for almost a year now.
Doctor :
Ok.
User :   It seems too long of a time to have a problem like this.
Doctor :
Yellow discharge usually means bacterial infection.
User :   yes, and it's very thick
User :   i have used metronidazole gel
User :   also clindamycin
User :   as well as antibiotics
Doctor :
You need antibiotic treatment for the same which you are already on.
User :   the only thing that helped was herbal stuff like bee propolis and grape seed extract
Doctor :
The source of infection has to be verified.
User :   and all tests (pap smear, urine, swap test, blood test) are negative.
User :   I don't understand.
User :   I meant I don't understand why I have this problem when all tests are negative and I'm supposedly treated
Doctor :
Since those medications are helping you out.
Doctor :
You can proceed with the same.
Doctor :
Are you on any contracteptive measures?
User :   it's just that the herbal things I'm still using - but it seems that I am experiencing the symptoms again.
User :   I've always had my partner use condoms.
User :   But, I know that it's possible to get things regardless.
Doctor :
Are you any pills?

User :   Hi back.
Doctor :   Hi
User :   No, I'm not on pills
User :   I have only used condoms.
Doctor :   Do you have diabetes?

User :   No
User :   I am healthy completely except for this problem
Doctor :
Ok.
Doctor :
i shall help you in this.
User :   Ok
User :   I can tell you more about the symptoms, describe more if you need.
Doctor :
The possible reason for your recurrent infection are
Doctor :   1) undetected source of infection
Doctor :
Which commonly arises from the urine tract.
Doctor :
2) decreased immunity status.
Doctor :
3) indolent infections.
Doctor :
They are the likely possibilities that I can think of.
Doctor :
Presently since you have the discharge,
Doctor :
You need to be on the correct antibiotic treatment.
User :   I used to have a burning sensation when I urinated. Now, when I pee, I still have it a little, so little that it's ignorable but it's still there a bit.
User :   You said indolent infections. What does that mean?
Doctor :
It means that when the infection is treated uncorrectly
Doctor :
there are pssibilities that the infection can still remain inside
Doctor :
or worse develop resistance
Doctor :
this can cause the infection to occur again
User :   It's possible that mine developed resistance because I don't think that the treatments have worked and I've had this almost a year which is a very long time. It's like the body is getting used to having this infection and keeping it.
User :   I wanted to say something else, too.
User :   The infection I feel right there has a very specific feeling to it.
User :   It's not the same as the feeling of a yeast infection for example
User :   First of all, except for the yellow thick long discharge that I experience a few times a day or so (it feels warm as it is coming out), I have this other feeling.
Doctor :   What type of infection, whether it is bacterial or yeast only examination can provide the answer.
User :   The feeling is that on the outside of the vagina (the outer skin), I feel as if ants are walking. It's the best description I have for it. I have the same exact feeling right under the lips of the outer vagina. So, it's the vulva area. It's the outside skin and under the lips where I have that feeling as if ants are walking. Then, I have the yellow discharge.
Doctor :   I would recommend you to have a culture analysis done on the sample of discharge.
User :   I think I have both the bacterial and yeast infection.
User :   I got the culture analysis done again only a month or so ago. It comes back completely clean and negative.
User :   But, I do have this very specific feeling down there and that's what gets me scared. I get scared that I have a bigger problem than a bacterial infection.
Doctor :
The sensation you are probably having may be probably because of the infection or the discharge that is irritating
Doctor :
the skin.
User :   I think it's independent of the discharge. But, yes, it could be because of the bacterial infection itself.
Doctor :   SInce your pap smear is negative
User :   Yes
Doctor :
you do not have to worry so much.
User :   I see what you're saying. That makes me feel so much better.
Doctor :
Cervical cancer can cause similar problems
Doctor :
that has been ruled out by that.\
User :   I see what you're saying.
Doctor :
So i would advise you to go ahead with the culture test.
User :   My problem is that this problem I'm experiencing down there comes back and I feel it during the day entire day. So, if I'm at work, I'm feeling it. If I'm doing something else, I'm feeling it. It's just not going away and it has been a year almost.
User :   Even though they have alread done the culture test like a month ago?
Doctor :
Also get an ultrasound abdomen and pelvis to see if the infection is higher up.
User :   The test is negative and I haven't had intercourse or a partner or anything like that for a long time since I've been having this problem.
Doctor :
Yes since you the discharge has restarted.
User :   I see
Doctor :   The comonest cause for pelvic infection is isexual intercourse.
Doctor :
But urine infection can also cause this.
User :   So, you're saying get the culture test done again and get the ultrasound to make sure that the infection did not move up
Doctor :
Since you have burning sensation
Doctor :
there are possibilties that you may have the infection.
User :   So, you're saying that the urine infection can also cause this.
User :   cause the sensation I mean.
Doctor :   Not the sensation since urethra is close to the vaginal outlet.
User :   Sometimes I have the same feeling (the ants) just a little bit on a small portion of the inner thighs as well, by the way, if it helps anything.
Doctor :
there is a chance of urine infection causing the infection.
User :   I see what you're saying.
Doctor :
the sensation you are having is because of the infection.
User :   the urine infeciton can cause the infection that causes the yellow discarge
User :   yes.
User :   I think I understand.
User :   I have a bacterial infection probably with the remnants of the urine infection
Doctor :
So both urine infection and the white discharge is causing such a sensation.
User :   these are causing the charge and the feeling
Doctor :
Yes probably.
User :   Culture test & ultrasound is what I should do, right?
Doctor :   Yes,
User :   Even if I had the culture test done more than once and recently as well. Maybe I should get it done in another place.
Doctor :
followed by appropraite antibiotics,
User :   I have another question.
Doctor :
also you need tp check these too
Doctor :
1) fungal infection if any
Doctor :
2) your immunity status - hemoglobin, total blood counts
Doctor :   Please proceed with your other query?
User :   Since I've had this problem for a long time and it wasn't properly treated, do you think that the condition may have gotten worse and that I have developed resistance and that the infection got bigger causing bigger problems?
Doctor :
The chances are unlikely that your infection had grown further.
User :   Ok
Doctor :
But the possibility of resistance can be considered after the culture reports.
Doctor :
I shall suggest you other measures too
User :   Yes, please.
Doctor :
If there is any other query, i would like to answer those first.
User :   I wanted to ask the following: I'm willing to go and see any very good doctor (I have avmed for insurance but I'm willing to pay out of my pocket) but I don't know how to find a very good one. Do you have any suggestions? I live in Miami, Florida.
User :   You may not be able to help with this inquiry but who knows these things so I thought I would ask.
Doctor :
I shall see if i can help with you in this.
User :   Ok
Doctor :
Now the measures.
User :   Ok
Doctor :
3) check for your immune status
Doctor :   test your HIV status(not suspecting one) and other sexually transmitted disease.
Doctor :
4) good personal hygeine in terms of the pads you use
Doctor :
5) proper diet - a good and well nourished should help.
User :   Yes
User :   How do I check for immune status?
Doctor :
5) multivitamins once a day to boost the immunity.
User :   I have had some issues with my work and felt pretty depressed for almost a year and a half. I think that my immune system got really down.
User :   But, I'm feeling so much better.
User :   I have checked for all STDs (except for HIV) about a month ago or so and they came back negative.
Doctor :
You can get the HIV ELISA test.
User :   I keep good personal hygine (and very careful with my diet). I eat very healthy.
User :   ELISA test?
Doctor :
Yes it is the test done for confirming HIV
User :   I got the HIV done when I got my green card a year and a half ago, it was negative, but then I started having these problems afterwards. I didn't want to get it checked since they take your name, last name, let your insurance know, etc.
Doctor :
as i said i am not suspecting one
User :   Maybe Elisa test is something different where they don't take your information?
User :   Ok
Doctor :
But since you are having the problem since a long time it is better to rule the infection.
User :   Doctor, do you think that these problems are caused by sexual intercourse (or sexual contact). You can be protected with the condoms but there are other sexual contact, too, so it's possible that I got the bacteria in that way, right?
Doctor :
I am trying to locate a doctor for you.
User :   OK
User :   Thank you, really.
User :   He or a she doesn't matter although I've always seen he's. A she would be good, too. Maybe I can get two names from you just in case. Two top people in the field.
Doctor :
The chances are less when there is use of a condom.
User :   I see.
User :   Perhaps it's possible that my system went havoc because I had multiple partners at the time? Even though I was protected in all cases.
User :   By the way, I didn't have intercourse with all partners but possibly swapped fluid.
Doctor :   The chances are high if there are multiple partners
User :   Or, perhaps it's a combination of swapping fluids, multiple partners, immune system getting weak, etc.
Doctor :   Probably that may be the reason.
User :   Why is it the case if you're protected in all cases? Because, statistically, you're increasing your exposure?
Doctor :
Yes.
User :   You're doing more things and increasing the chances.
User :   I see.
User :   Ok.
User :   I'll wait for you to find the doctors for me. Sorry for interfering.
Doctor :
The chance of infection spreading is high in people who have multiple partners when compared to single partner.
Doctor :
this has been proved through studies.
Doctor :
Ok.
Doctor :
Is it ok
User :   I see. I always had single partners except for those few months. But, I didn't have intercouse but kissed around things in that nature. But, I understand that the exposure factor goes up and I'm more likely to get bacteria.
Doctor :
If i can give you a link to look for a gynaecologist through our site.
User :   Yes.
Doctor :
You can use the search a doctor/hospital feature on our homepage to find a doctor in your area. WWW.WWWW.WW
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
Doctor :
Please fill the feed back form too.
User :   Got it. Thank you.
User :   I filled it. I said that you were phenomenal.
User :   By the way, one other question - if I have these infection(s), does that mean one or more of my partners had infections too?
User :   Do you get these infections from other people or because you play around with your partner, you change the phd balance of your vagina?
Doctor :
I really cannot say that.
User :   You mean it would be hard to know that.?
Doctor :
But there are chances that i might be.
User :   you mean, they may be infected. Or, it's simply playing around and changing the conditions of the vagina. Did I understand correctly?
User :   Or, it's simply immune system getting weak - not much have to do with the partners.
Doctor :   There is a high probablality that the infection would have spread through the sexual intercourse.
Doctor :
the chance are 95%.
Doctor :
Because of that.
User :   One other question,
User :   Is this problem completely treatable?
User :   Assuming that I go to a good doctor, etc.
Doctor :   Yes.
User :   Ok
Doctor :
they can be treated completely.
Doctor :
And you can avoid them in future if
Doctor :   you can avoid multiple partners.
Doctor :
This is basically an advise of the doctor
Doctor :
and not a personal comment.
User :   :) Yes, I can tell you that that's the craziest thing I have done for those few months and since then I knew that I would never repeat it again. I learned a lot. I felt bad a lot. And, I have forgiven myself and moved onward from there.
User :   Personal comment or doctor's advise, in either case, I really appreciate the advice. And, I am following it.
User :   Doctor, before we close up the chat window, do you mind if I summarize quickly what I have gotten from this conversation and if I am incorrect, you can correct me. If you confirm things, than I'm good to go.
Doctor :   You can.
Doctor :
I shall add if any more has to be added.
User :   Sounds good.
User :   You're telling me that I probably (given my desription of the symptoms to you, etc.) have a bacterial infection
User :   possibly in combination with urine infection.
Doctor :
yes.
User :   This is probably caused by having multiple partners (which I am avoiding now and onward).
User :   You suggest that I get a culture test again.
Doctor :
yes
User :   You suggest that I get checked for fungal infection just in case
User :   My immunity system needs to be strong (Did you make suggestions as to how on that?)
Doctor :
absolutely.
User :   I need to be checked for hemoglobin and blood counts just in case
User :   HIV Elisa test would be good.
Doctor :
You need to follow good healthy diet, multivitamins for a month.
User :   You suggest that I go to a good doctor, get these tests done, and get the ultrasound as well.
User :   I'm taking 1000 mg vitamin C
User :   Echinasia during the day
Doctor :   that will help you,
User :   I get bee propolis, garlic, grape seed extract, ph balancer, even silver (natural antibiotic). I keep myself in good spirits.
Doctor :
Continue with the same.
User :   I even forgave myself for the multiple partners as hard as it was. I have started thinking and feeling good about myself, sexuality, and things like that. So that psychologically I'm not contributing to the problem.
Doctor :
they are all good source of antioxidants too
Doctor :
and is good for you.
User :   Ok. That's good.
User :   I have been taking these vitamins for more than a month now but I guess I can continue some more.
Doctor :
You can continue.
User :   And, in the meantime, I'll go to another doctor that can be more helpful than my current one. I'll take the copies of my tests with me. And, I suggest for culture test and ultrasound.
User :   I hope that I'll be ok.
User :   So, I summarized. :)
Doctor :   That is it...
User :   Yes.
User :   This was very, very, very, very helpful.
User :   Thank you so very much. I'm glad I have this way of talking to a doctor available for me. Thank you. :)
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   Now that you're asking I can ask a completely separate question. But, I don't know if there is time left, and I certainly don't want to overdo or overtake the time that I have.
Doctor :
You can proceed with them.
Doctor :
You still have time.
User :   Ok one last one then.
Doctor :
Please proceed with the query?
User :   I did have work depression about a year ago. I simply did not want to go to work. I wanted to do everything else but work. I knew that some people take medicine for that like depression drugs. I didn't want to do that.
User :   So, I decided to heal myself. I took walks, talked to friends, walked under the sun, ate better, things like that.
User :   I also started to change things in my life completely, including my work.
Doctor :
Ok
User :   It has been many months and I feel so much better. I never took depression drugs. I still do have the need to sleep a bit more than usual. Also, going to work is not completely easy either. So, even though I feel so much better, I probably still have some elements of depression left, right? If it is difficult to make myself go to work especially early in the morning, regardless of how I may be feeling better and that my life is better, I probably still have lingering issues, right?
User :   (And, by the way, I am not depressed when I do all the other things like my hobbies, friends, family, and things like that). It's the work.
Doctor :   Depression can be treated by medications and through regular couselling
Doctor :
Medications have many side effects
User :   Yes
Doctor :
and you do not need one.
User :   I have made a decision to not use medication and yes I don't think I need one.
User :   But I'm aware and conscious of the fact that I do have lingering problems.
Doctor :
Since your problem is mainly work and not other wise.
User :   Yes
Doctor :
MAy i know the details of your occupation?
User :   I am a university professor. I am an assistant professor at a university, a rather major one, not the top but good enough.
User :   I love teaching. I love my students.
User :   But, the research part is not for me.
Doctor :   Ok.

User :   I like writing a lot but I'd rather write about topics I like.
User :   And, I am not doing that since I'm doing academic research.
User :   And, I'm evaluated on the basis of that. Standards are very high, and they keep increasing.
Doctor :
Since when are you into this?
User :   And, since it's not something I love, I have a difficulty catching up with the expectations that come with it.
User :   It's actually a very small period of time.
Doctor :
Ok.
User :   That's why I have a difficulty understanding myself sometimes.
User :   It has been only 3 years.
User :   I have done my phd, finished, started my first job and I've only been an assistant professor for 3 years.
Doctor :
Is there any means of you going back to your teaching?
User :   My teaching is great but not the research part. And, this affects the teaching part a bit since it becomes an all around problem.
User :   Yes, there are.
User :   I can be less research and more teaching oriented.
User :   The university I'm working at told me that they'll give me a more teaching oriented position
User :   I'll still have to do research but much less.
User :   or some less.
Doctor :   Then you can go for that.
User :   But, that means I'm of off the tenure line, I make less money, less prestige, less many of those types of things.
User :   Yes, I can assuming that they will indeed give me the position like they have promised. I'm currently still waiting for that.
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   Also, I have started many research projects. And, I have co-authors to whom I feel very responsible.
Doctor :
Since i know less of reaserch.
Doctor :   I can suggest you these.
User :   And, since I do no longer have the desire to do much if any research, I ask myself: how am I going to complete all these projects? I'm the first author on most of them. It's a bit tough. :)
Doctor :
I understand.
User :   (Also, over time, I may not want to do any research whatsoever, which may require that I change my position again and have reduced income on lots of teaching and no research)
User :   Yes.
Doctor :
I can suggest you these.
User :   Ok
Doctor :
1)
Doctor :
you need to start enjoying the work you do
Doctor :
You can speak to people who have gone through the same kind of problem
Doctor :
you can learn more that way.
Doctor :
You can search for them through the net.
Doctor :
If that is not helping you,
User :   Enjoy what you do meaning enjoy the research as well while you're still doing it or while you still have to do it?
Doctor :
when you are at the work place.
Doctor :
I do not mean the research but the work as a whole.
User :   You mean enjoy what you do, whatever it is that you do, when you're at work.
Doctor :
I know it is difficult
Doctor :
But there will be positives in every work.
User :   Yes, I know it's difficult but I also know that it's the way to go. Things may change over time and my work may get better over time. But, I have to enjoy right now, too.
User :   Yes, like my students and teaching.
Doctor :
If that is not helping then you can take professional help.
Doctor :
Or if your problem persists.
User :   Part of the problems at work are caused by harrassment at the work place. When I started I was 3 years younger, the youngest in the business school, and harrassment happened - latin culture where I live. And, I didn't appreciate that. I had to avoid a few people so they wouldn't bug me or suggest lunch or dinner with me while they are married and this and that. i didn't find it right and spent a lot of time avoiding people.
User :   Yes, I will follow all of your suggestions.
User :   Thank you so very much for helping out.
Doctor :
'You can take off from research and concentrate on teaching your students
Doctor :
temporarily.
User :   Yes, I think that's what I'll do over time.
User :   And, temporarily, I will learn to enjoy my work because that's what I am doing and have to do right now.
User :   I will do it.
User :   Thank you. :)
Doctor :
Yes.
Doctor :
Is there any other query?
User :   No, this is it. Thank you.
Doctor :
Thanks for consulting HealthcareMagic. Bye for now. Please refer your friends to our service.
User :   Thank you so very much and have a wonderful day.
User :   Bye
