Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   how can I help you?
User :   hello. I have come down with bronchitis like symptoms 3 times in 4 months. I went to my doctor on Friday the other day and at the time I did not have the fever symptoms or bad breathing but I knew I was going through the same cycle
Doctor :   ok
User :   this weekend I got the mild fever like 100.8 etc., non stop runny nose and had some slight streaks of blood in my cough sputum
User :   the doctor out me on an actual inhaler as I started taking albuterol which did help clear up the blood streaking actually
User :   put
User :   i have symptomatic asthma
Doctor :   ok
User :   that starts up when my allergies kick in etc. but not with exertion from running etc
User :   as of yesterday the runny nose went away, no more fever which is great
Doctor :   ok
User :   but this wheeze I get is scaring me a lot and now I am coughing up almost like white tissue in my sputum sometimes. My chest is very raspy or vibrates especially when I breathe out
User :   i cant clear it completely from coughing at all. I have been waking up at 4AM the last two days roughly and having to clear my chest by coughing hard but it does not clear
Doctor :   ok
User :   i am worried I am getting mis-diagnosed a little and there may be something else going on with my lungs or esophogus and a little worried

User :   hello i am back
User :   i paid the fee
Doctor :   are you back?
User :   yes
Doctor :   ok
User :   this wheeze is hard to explain its more like a raspy sound when I breath in and out almost like in my throat area but it wont clear from coughing
User :   it sounds bad though and my whole chest vibrates
User :   hello I keep getting redirected are you there
Doctor :   hi
User :   ok
Doctor :   plz continue
User :   okay so to summarize, I have gotten bronchitis like symptoms 3 times in 4 months, it seems viral and I keep relapsing. I go 5 or so weeks and then it starts again, i start with a slight wheeze, cough with small streaks of blood. I then get a mlld fever for a few days no more than 101 and then the fever subsides but my chest seems to be very congested and I am now coughing up almost like white sputum mixed with clear it almost sometimes looks like white tissue or something. I can't clear the raspy breathing with my inhaler or coughing
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   plz continue
User :   i also get the runny nose and weak feeling the few days and then the fever breaks and the runny nose eventually clears after about a day or two. So all that to me seems okay its viral, but this raspy breathing in and out and bad vibration of the chest scares me and I have been waking up at 4AM the last two nights coughing hard to try and clear it but it wont clear from anytime. Maybe its just very irritated again but these seem to be recurring symptoms I am getting and the white sputum is making me nervous as well
Doctor :   ok
User :   the albuterol I feel did help the blood streaking though but now I am seeing the white
User :   thats all in summary, could there be anything else going on like with my esophogus or more xrays they should be doing
Doctor :   let me read
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   are you hypertensive?
User :   yes
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   what are you taking for it?
User :   i am taking lisinopril 2.5 mg only very small dose
User :   it seems to work, that i beleive is causing my cough a little as well but not this sick raspy breathing
User :   i started taking it for 1 month now
User :   they just did blood tests Friday at my regular doctor to check kidneys etc
User :   he is amazed such a small dose is working but it seems to bring me from 135-140 over 90 down to normal almost 125/70 etc
Doctor :   ok
User :   would white tissue like substance in my sputum mean anything do you think or would that just be viral
User :   not sure what white sputum could be
User :   its like mixes
User :   mixed
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   the white substance in the cough is the mucus mixed with dead cells and other respiratory secretions
Doctor :   blood streaks are due to the forced coughing
Doctor :   how frequently are you monitoring your blood pressure?
User :   usually daily now and it seems fine
Doctor :   ok
User :   i am keeping an eye out on the cough the lisinipril sometimes gives me but it works very well and I dont seem to get any side affects overall
Doctor :   how is the readings like?
Doctor :   ok
User :   good 125/75 or 80 sometimes they rise a little back to the 135/90 range but overall it seems to keep it down very well and most was stress related I think
Doctor :   lisinopril causes cough
User :   yes my doctor also said we could switch which is an option but right now I feel its not bad and no other side affects overall accept for a little tired
User :   when i went to 5mg it actually made me hyposensitive and I was dropping to like 95.60
User :   when I started on that 5mg
User :   so now I cut it in half
Doctor :   ok
User :   my doctor is amazed that small of a dose is working
User :   but it is
Doctor :   ok
User :   im waiting for the blood test results. This raspy breathing though is making me very nervous though and I hope it clears soon. I am also worried there will be a good chance I relapse again based on going the 4-5 weeks and then same round of symptoms 3 times now
User :   people are sick at my work now as well though so it very well may be I just keep picking up a virus and it sets it back off. I think it is more than a wheeze not sure of a definition for it but its like a rugged raspy sound if I breath out it like goes with the breathing
User :   and if I feel my chest it vibrates as well
User :   then in the middle of the night like I mentioned I wake up and start coughing hard
Doctor :   yes I can understand your problem
Doctor :   it seems to be a viral infection
Doctor :   did you had any X rays of your chest
Doctor :   what tests you had done?
User :   they did a chest xray the first time I had this and it came out fine then this was about 3.5 months ago. They just did blood work but that was more for the checking of the kidneys etc. from the bp medication i just started
User :   waiting on the results of that
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   do you remember the name of investigations?
User :   i dont know
Doctor :   ok
User :   they did a chest xray that first time that was in the hospital and they gave me a breathing treatment, at the time I was also very raspy
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   are you allergic?
User :   ya I am to regular seasonal allergies which do kick my asthma in, i also have a cat that does not help but I do pretty good around her. My doctor also went down this path and that is why he put me on a regular inhaler. My thoughts on that though is this does not at all seem to be allergy related due to I get very sick with fever, weak etc. not many allergy symptoms
User :   however, the past few nights I have actually had very watery eyes but not like i have had with my allergies sometimes like itchy but very watery almost extreme a few times. No other allergy symptoms per say though. I have seasonal and I know the difference I feel if those are kicking in, no fever etc
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   there is definitely a viral infection but it is complicated due to allergic conditions
Doctor :   even can relapse
Doctor :   frequently
Doctor :   phlegm is always white?
User :   no not always just seems to be now since I cleared up overall, its the few times hard to explain I coughed and spit it up and there was almost like a white small glob in it.
Doctor :   ok
User :   its now more like not congested but just raspy I guess maybe from being very irritated but its pretty bad
Doctor :   it is due to allergic conditions
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   whe the fever started ?
Doctor :   *when
Doctor :   are you with me?
User :   i lost power
User :   are you there
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   plz proceed
User :   the fever started about 4 months ago I go through this virus and it comes on for two days same exact thing then it breaks
User :   but that is in total
User :   the times I have had this the 3 times I got this same illness I get the fever for two days
User :   approx once maybe 3 days
User :   not more than 101
User :   more like 100.8 etc.
User :   but feel really sick at those points
User :   chills etc
User :   also any possibility of like a clot of anything or something lung or esophogus related that could cause this stuff or the viral aspects kind of rule that out? Also forgot to mention, the doc also put me on a gerd medication i forget the name but prescription strength for a little while. The other night though I leaned over to pickup the trash and I spit up a little as well which I usually dont do. But has happened very rarely I am sure reflux stuff
User :   im sure it was from leaning over as well that did kind of made it happen
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   in past did you ever had reflux?
Doctor :   leading to burning in the throat
User :   no not really but have had some heart burn he decided to try this as well a little
User :   i have had stomach issues though my whole like IBS etc
User :   had high pancreas counts as well once the doctor is keeping an eye out on that a little and just need to make sure I am careful with booze etc. But that was only high once.
User :   then was fine next counts
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   tell me that in the current episode of fever and cough, do you remember the exact date when it was started?
User :   Saturday the 19th
User :   broke Monday morning
User :   sweats on Saturday and then went up to around 100.4
User :   Sunday it was around 100.8 all day when not on advil
User :   then Monday morning felt fine again like 97.4 etc
User :   and no fever now
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   no chills?
Doctor :   associated with fever
User :   yes
User :   chills a little
Doctor :   ok
User :   night sweats et
User :   bad was very wet etc
User :   bed
Doctor :   in my opinion you are suffering viral infection
User :   okay
Doctor :   which is relapsing frequenyly
User :   would anti-viral meds be of any benefit considering just to limit the relapse right now and cause of any damage from the cough and chest illness
Doctor :   antivirals
Doctor :   are not very effective
User :   okay kind of thought that
Doctor :   in most of the cases
User :   okay well I will just wait it out then but thank you for your great help once again. I just wanted a second opinion because it is hard to explain exactly how I feel but the raspy wheeze and white stuff is making me very nervous so I will just hope it passes soon
Doctor :   are you taking any antibiotics during these episodes
User :   no i have not , i did the first time I had this took the zithro pack but I agree totally with my doctor this is not a bacterial thing 99% sure it is a viral based thing hopefully so anti-biotics may not help. Do you think though it may be worth anoher shot if I do keep up
User :   i have never really got a bacterial infection more prone to all viral stuff
Doctor :   in my opinion
Doctor :   antibacterials are generally prescribed especially if there are frequent relapse of viral infection prophylactically
Doctor :   but
Doctor :   as this episode is nearly passed
Doctor :   so it will be better to wait
Doctor :   if unfortunately you suffer another relapse then will think of antibiotics
User :   okay will do. thanks again for all your help
Doctor :   Please fill the feedback form say done when done.
Doctor :   Is there any thing else I can help you with?
User :   no that is all thanks again for all your time today
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting HealthcareMagic. Bye for now. Please refer your friends to our service.
