User :   I had my tonsild remover about 3 yrs ago and at the same time they filed down or removed my styiloid process. Shortly after i healed i started having problems. One is its hard to swallow food at times. This next problem is whats driving me insane i feel like i have something in my throat. It feels like its at the piont where my sinus enter from my nose to my throat. It seems to bother me more at night than in the day but it does happen in the day. The longer this goes the worse its getting. My Dr. said i had a fiarly large deviated septum and that it was so far back that it may never bother me. So what i want to know is could this have been cause by my surgery perhaps and could it be because of the septum.

Doctor :   You need to get them properly examined as you previously mentioned you had your tonsil removed.

Doctor :   Based on your symptoms.
User :   yes i understand that
User :   what would be the most likely cause by just knowing what i have told you
Doctor :   Swllowing difficulty can be probably due to Mediastinitis which is an inflammation and that can be confirmed by proper investigations as Chest X ray and Chest CT

User :   Mediastinitis
Doctor :   It is an inflammation of the mediastinum which is a space between sternum(chest bone and spine)
User :   ok what about the feeling of having something in my throat
User :   and what makes it feel like its at the point where my sinus enters my throat
Doctor :   It also may be related to your tonsils grown back or damage to a nerve
User :   i clear my thoat so often that it get really sore
Doctor :   And may be because the tonsils were not removed properly.
User :   tonsils can grow back
Doctor :   Yes it can be recurrent tonsillitis.
