User :   My father had triple bypass surgery wed. Is it normal to cut his pain meds now? He was recieving two pills, but now only one.

User :   he will be 52 in october
Doctor :   Does he have any other symptoms right now?
Doctor :   Does he have increased sugar, BP or cholesterol?
User :   He is also diabetic, but he is having pains and he said shortness of breath. He blood pressure had be going up and whatnot
Doctor :   Is he still in the hospital?
User :   Yes
User :   They were saying he maybe released tomorrow
Doctor :   Is the cardiologist still monitoring him?
Doctor :   Until the BP and pain are controlled it is better that you stay in the hospital.
User :   They went to visit him today. They also did some chest x rays today
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Is the pain decreasing gradually?
User :   He says its still there. When I talk to him he is always grunting from the pain. Not to mention the nurses have not been giving him his meds on time
Doctor :   Pain medications not being given on time are the main reason, report this to your treating doc so that prompt action can be taken.
Doctor :   So that medications are given on time.
User :   about how long are the patients usually at the hospital before being released
Doctor :   Until the Pain subsides and BP and other problems are under control
Doctor :   It may vary from 5 to 7 days.
User :   okay. I know he will not be able to drive for 3 months, but would he be able to fly?
Doctor :   Unless and until the BP is properly under control he will not be able to fly for 8 to 10 weeks.
User :   so no travel at all is recommended
Doctor :   Immediately its not recommended.
User :   patients are usually okay after this procedure?
Doctor :   Yes usually they respond well depending on the BP control.
Doctor :   Is there anything else you would like to know?
User :   That is all and you have been a big help.
