Doctor :   hi
User :   hi doctor
Doctor :
how can i help you?
Doctor :
please proceed with your health query
User :   my wife had ectopic pregnancy
Doctor :
ok
User :   why did it happened. due to what all reasons?
Doctor :
when did this happen?
User :   1month back
Doctor :
where was the ectopic pregnancy located?
User :   in the right fallopian tube
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
ectopic pregnancy is a complication that can happen during pregnancy
Doctor :   it is a pregnancy that happens outside the uterus
Doctor :
and the baby starts to develop outside the womb
User :   is it a common thing these days and affects later pregnancies too.
Doctor :   the most common site for this to happen is the fallopian tubes
Doctor :   it usually happens or is caused by a condition that blocks or slows the movement of a fertilized egg through the fallopian tube to the uterus
User :   but why the movement slows/blocks?
Doctor :   there can be physical blockage like scars or temporary due to inflammation
User :   how can it be prevented next time?
Doctor :
is this the first pregnancy for her?
User :   yes
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
the further occurance of ectopics can be avoided by giving a gap of atleast 6 months to let the tubes heal well
Doctor :
and the try for conception
Doctor :
during the fertile period of your wife
Doctor :
also further investigations should be done to make sure there is no physical causes
Doctor :
like a block or scar affecting the tubes
User :   what all need to be done for next time
Doctor :
1) you need to find the excat cause why it happened
Doctor :
2) see if there are any tubal causes like blockage, scars ligation etc
Doctor :
3) extra tubal causes like pelvic diseases, and pelvic imflammation
User :   yes i want to know but doctors say it can happen to anybodey and there is as such no certain reasons
Doctor :
4) delay next pregnancy for about 6 momths to 1 year
Doctor :
it is true that this can happen in anyone
Doctor :
but if further investigations are done, the causes can be ruled out
Doctor :
since it was her first pregnancy, it could be no specific reason
Doctor :
but others can include tubal cilia damage which pushes egg forwards towards the uterus
Doctor :
this happens when there is pelvic inflammatory disease
Doctor :
this can also result in scar tissue formations which acts like a block preventing further movement of egg
Doctor :
if these causes are present, then there are chances that she will have this problem again
User :   she had pain during her first month
Doctor :
ok
User :   on the right side
Doctor :
early symptoms include pain in lower abdomen
Doctor :
[pain while passing urine, dull pain always present
Doctor :
pain while having bowel movement
User :   there was some spotting too in the early stage
Doctor :
yes it is associated with bleeding/spotting early in pregnancy
Doctor :
so now the treatment should focus on finding the possible cause
User :   one doctor said that some fluid was present in the right side
User :   during ultrasound
Doctor :
and treating any PID (pelvic inflammatory disease)
Doctor :
if present
User :   and diagnosed that it was rupture in fallopuian tube
User :   but other doctor said the treatment was done conservatively and there is no such damage to fallopian tube
Doctor :
ok
User :   because ruptured fallopian tube needs to be operated
Doctor :
was the ectopic pregnancy in fallopian tube? did the ultrasound show that?
Doctor :
what was the procedure done for her to treat ectopic?
User :   some injections were given along with gluscose and it was dissolved
User :   was hospitalised for 2 days and kept under observation
User :   when the HCG level came down she was discharged
Doctor :
i would advise you to take a second opinion ion the condition and the treatment given.
Doctor :   she needs further investigations like HSG of uterus and tubes
Doctor :
to se ethat the tubes on both sides are fine or not
User :   otherwise do you think that it was a fallopian burst
Doctor :
and take treatment for the PID if the fluid was found in the pelvic cavity
User :   PID, HSG???
Doctor :
if a fallopian tube burst happens, its life threatening and wil require immediate emergency laparotomy and evacuation
Doctor :   PID (pelvic inflammatory disease)
Doctor :   HSG: hyterosalpingogram which is a procedure to see the patency of the uterus and the tubes
User :   the doctor said it was minor rupture as some fluid was seen
User :   is it possible?
Doctor :
please get a repeat ultrasound done for her, to see that the tubes are empty and with no fetus in it
User :   we have done that and some part is there in uterus
User :   after getting dissolved
Doctor :   could you tell me the report of the scan done before and after her hospitalisation?
User :   i don't have the same as of now but certainly i will bring them and let you know tommorrow
Doctor :   ok
