User :   Hi, I'm 62 year old male. About one week ago, I started having a burning sensation at the tip of my penis. 2 days later, while urinating, I noticed the flow of urine was slow and suddenly was hit with a very sharp pain in the area of my prostate that nearly put me on the floor. The next day I noticed a clear dried spot along with a pale red blood spot on the front of my briefs. Since that time I have had burning at the tip of the penis and noticed that it is very sensitive and I will notice a clear sticky discharge. No sex in over 3 years. Urine flow is great since the painful encounter mentioned above. Only get up once in the night usually. Any thoughts?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   can i know if you have any other compplaints apart from this?
User :   No, everything else seems to be working well.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   any history of trauma in the past to the area?

Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   is this the first episode?
Doctor :   have you seen the doctor earlier for this?
User :   Yes. However about once per year my prostate sends one of these shooting pains. This particular pain was the most debilitating for a few minutes.
Doctor :   any history of diabetes or high blood pressure?
User :   No diabetes and blood pressure is usually on the normal to low side.
Doctor :   have you got the prostate examined before?and any reports of the scan?
User :   i am taking cymbalta for back pain and aderall for ADD
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   I can think of these possibilities from your history
Doctor :   1. an inflammation of the prostate
Doctor :   2. infection of the urinary tract
User :   I am also taking androgel for low testosterone. My last prostate exam was 7 months ago and all was fine. My blood work was great.
Doctor :   3. urine outflow obstruction secondary to prostate pathology
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   If the prostate examination was normal, then the last possibility could be ruled out.
User :   My doctor secured an appointment for me Friday. Probably should not miss that one.
Doctor :   the other two conditions, and even stones may be the cause.
Doctor :   which can be diagnosed on physical examination, urine test and scans.
User :   I could literally feel something moving through my urethra after the major pain. May have been a small stone. No history of this in the past.
Doctor :   I would suggest you take lot of water, this helps in flushing away stones which are small in size
User :   I will
Doctor :   you could also be benefited by cranberry juice. this fights an infection in the tract .
Doctor :   meanwhile observe your urine stream, , frequency, symptoms like fever, chills, etc.
User :   Do any of the prostate massagers help or are they mainly toys and have a potential of problems. A friend told me that it seemed to help his problem. I'm just not that excited about it
Doctor :   It is better to consult your doctor first and confirm as to what it is, then you could decide on them.
User :   Thanks so much for the information. I will take your advice. Lots of fluids you mentioned and also see my Dr. Friday. Appreciate your time, especially at this late hour.
