User :   yes, gets better, but then gets worse.
Doctor :   ok, Is he on any medications now ?
User :   i've been reading about shingles (shelwel)
User :   he said he took Tylenol Cold for head congestion
User :   as dosed on bottle PRN
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   Are the lesions painful , i mean the rahses ?
User :   they ITCH!!!!!
Doctor :   As you think yes, it is possible it to be Shingles
Doctor :   but another possibility of hypersensitivity reaction also has to be considered
User :   what is that?
Doctor :   Its a severe type allergic reaction
User :   to the Tylenol Cold?
Doctor :   the swelling of the lips the joints and the rashes are very typical to be due to hypersenitivity
User :   of the Tylenol Cold med?
Doctor :   could b due to any allergen ,. food medication dressing , pollen , plants etc
Doctor :   Are you there ?
User :   oh, yeah, just trying to figure out what he could be allergic to
Doctor :   you can rule out one of the differential diagnosis i mentioned
Doctor :   by giving him a dose of antiallergic like benadryl
Doctor :   if it subsides after benadryl then for sure its an hypersenitivity or else shingles has to be considered
User :   i want him to go to the DR tomorrow, what should he tell him? I printed out symptoms I posted to you also. so he can bring them along on his visit.
User :   he said he took benedryl yesterday, not today. helped a little
Doctor :   good, let him continue for 2 days and see the difference
User :   ok
User :   do you recommend a dose for someone his weight/height?
Doctor :   A adult dose tablet twice a day for two days
Doctor :   i advice him to be on rest when on medication
User :   ok
Doctor :   And let him not take tylenol
User :   ok
Doctor :   til the diagnosis is made
User :   ok
Doctor :   if you rule out the hypersensitivity, i would advice you to take him to a GP and get examined and confirm the shingles and be put on mediacation
User :   ok
Doctor :   Is there anything else i can help ?
User :   what do they do for shingles.
User :   ?
Doctor :   cover antibacterials , and antivirals some times
