User :   Hi. I had unprotected sex a week ago today. I'm scared i've gotten HIV or another std. What would the symptoms be a week after sexual intercourse? He didn't ejaculate inside of me, but I'm still scared and aware of the risks that are still there. He says he's clean, but I can't take his word for it.
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   Hi
Doctor :   it needs minimum of two weeks for any kind of STD to present and Hiv takes much more like around 3 to 4 months
User :   So I wouldn't be feeling any symptoms then, correct?
Doctor :   Herpes and Candida are the first to present that would happen with fever resembling any viral fever and with lesions over the genitalia
Doctor :   no , not till 2 weeks
User :   Okay. I just feel fatigued - and I'm freaking myself out thinking it's seroconversion going on
Doctor :   Well when he didnt ejaculate in you then the chances of STDs are very less
Doctor :   no , it cant be , you are stressed out due to anxiety , hence fatigue
User :   Well that's good to know. Pre-cum still can carry std's but my risk is lower then?
Doctor :   yes, very low
Doctor :   The HIV transmission with ejaculation inside is about 1 to 5 %
Doctor :   without ejaculation its very minimal risk
User :   Okay well that definitely makes me less paranoid
Doctor :   And since you do not know the HIV status of the partner you have 50% chances of being totally safe
User :   what do you mean? Worse case scenario he has HIV then i'm at 50%?
Doctor :   no , you getting it wrong
Doctor :   Here it is
Doctor :   If the person is negative then you have no chance of getting infection
Doctor :   if he is positive for HIV you may be at risk of 1 to 5 % , but since he did not ejaculate in you the chances get still more lower to 0.1 to 1 %
Doctor :   so 50 % you are completely safe
Doctor :   another half you may be at risk , but 0.1 to 1 % only
Doctor :   thats negligible
User :   Okay. I'm not understanding the 50% part because that's a lot more than 1%
Doctor :   ok, i will make it clear , you are at very low risk
Doctor :   I conclude saying you are at very low to negligible risk , hence need not worry
Doctor :   Are you able to read me ?
Doctor :   Are you there ?
User :   yeah i'm here
User :   sorry
User :   Well that's good to know.
Doctor :   I would advice you to be relaxed
Doctor :   do not get stressed over this anxiety
Doctor :   get examined for other minor STDa after a week from now
Doctor :   STDs*
User :   Okay. I will. thank you for your advice.
Doctor :   you are welcome
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me
User :   thank you!
Doctor :   Bye for now
Doctor :   kindly provide your feedback
