User :   My four year old has a headache, cough, fever, runny nose, back pain, stomach pain and watery eyes that she says burn. What could cause this?

Doctor :   Since when is she having these symptoms?
User :   There was a child diagnosed with strep throat in her class on Monday....could she have strep with those symptoms?
User :   the cough started last night and today she became really ill
Doctor :   Is she tolerating food by mouth or she having vomiting?
User :   she is barely eating
User :   no vomiting yet
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me explain to you.
Doctor :   It is too early to predict a strep infection.
Doctor :   However based on your description, the symptoms are classical of a viral infection - a common flu.
User :   ok is there another reason she would complain of so many tings?
User :   should I take her to doctor tomorrow?
Doctor :   Most often flu infection are a self limiting one.
Doctor :   which settles down in a few days with symptomatic treatment.
User :   I also have two smaller children in the house 2yrs and 10 it contagious...
Doctor :   Unfortunately, the infection spreads via airborne droplets.
Doctor :   Young infants can get predisposed to the infection.
User :   sharing drinks is the norm here so I can expect the others to get sick soon right?
User :   are there any meds that you would suggest?
Doctor :   Infection can spread through contaminated water and via droplets- if your daugther coughs with open mouth in the vicinity of her siblings or any other child.
Doctor :   Presently the following measures are necesary
Doctor :   1. Check her temperature regularly.
User :   it is 102 or around that all day
Doctor :   Use tylenol pediatric syrups as and when the temperature gets high.
Doctor :   Use sponging techniques to bring the temperature down.
User :   ok have been using that
Doctor :   Sponging is more effective in bringing the temperature down.
User :   ok
Doctor :   2. Keep her hydrated, by giving her plenty of water and fruit juice - luke warm water and non iced fruit juices are better.
Doctor :   3. Absolute bed rest
User :   she has not been drinking much.....i keep offering drinks and she refuses them
Doctor :   4. As far as possible keep her away from her siblings and encourage her to cover her mouth as and when she coughs.
User :   ok.
Doctor :   5. Get to the doctor,if you feel the temperature is persisting to be high inspite of all measures.
Doctor :   Have you followed what i have suggested?
User :   yes
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   no thank you so much you have helped alot I was terrified to sleep thinking that she needed energency care
