Doctor : Welcome back.
User : thank u. I sent the pictures to you
User : did u get them?
Doctor : Yes,
Doctor : Let me have a look at it.
User : alright.
Doctor : Are these patches growing in size?
User : i think so..
User : it has been so slow that i didn't realize it
Doctor : Do you have any associated symtoms such as itching, burning sensation?
User : no burning sensation
User : itching is alsonot there
User : only after washing my face , the skin feels stretched and itchy..
User : but not much
Doctor : Ok
Doctor : Let me brief you.
Doctor : There are 2 common causes for such hypopigmented lesions.
User : okay..
Doctor : 1. A fungal lesion
Doctor : 2. Pityriasis Alba.
Doctor : The picture of the lesions are more suggestive of pityriasis Alba.
User : i had a pityriasis infection, the one which makes a lot of red/dark spots on my waist
User : i got treated for it and it completely disappeared
Doctor : Pityriasis alba isn't a fungal infection, though the name is similar.
User : what is pityriasis alba?
Doctor : Similar lesions on the trunk are due to fungal lesions caused by pityriasis versicolor, but unlike this
Doctor : Pityriasis alba occurs due to reduced melanin secretions similar to vitiligo,
User : :(
Doctor : but the difference is there is complete absence of melanin in vitiligo and here it is
User : can it be cured?
Doctor : reduced secretion.
User : what is the cause for it?
Doctor : It is non concerning problem and does not cause any symptoms apart the cosmetics problem.
Doctor : The exact cause for pityriasis alba is unknown.
User : how can i cure it?
Doctor : there are however few factors that can predispose to its development
Doctor : Factors such as reduced nutrition, exposure to cold weather.
User : on googling the same, i read that it is common in children..but i am 23..
Doctor : Its much commoner in children and young adults
Doctor : Though mainly seen in children can also occur in young individuals.
Doctor : The treatment is still yet to be found, but
Doctor : improved nutrition, use of moisturisers, preventing frequent exposure to cold can prevent similar lesions from occuring.
Doctor : To reduce the consmetic problems, use of sunscreen lotions and skin lightening products ( such that the contrast between normal skin is reduced) is suggested.
User : doctor..are u there?
Doctor : Yes,
Doctor : Have you followed what I have suggested?
Doctor : Are you there?
User : Doctor. I got disconnected
User : Couldn't read anything u replied
User : I am back now. pl gimme a minute to read what you have said
User : thanks doctor
