User :   Can someone help with unexplained infertility

User :   I am 36, diagnosed with unexplained primary infertility,
Doctor :   please answer my further questions. it will help me to answer your query better
User :   Prolactin level high, little bit of high level of thyroid, no blockage in fallopian tubes, utreus normal
Doctor :   1) have you had menstruation? if yes at what age did you attain maturity and had your first periods?
User :   At age of 12
Doctor :   2) please provide your investigation results for FSH, LH, Prolactin , lipid and thyroid levels if these were done
Doctor :   3) were you having regular periods before?
Doctor :   4) was HSG (hysterosalpingogram) test done? to check for blockages?
Doctor :   if yes, please provide results
User :   They were done, many of the parameters were normal, had been on Capogolin! and Thyronorm 75 mcg! for 1 year
Doctor :   5) are you on medications at present? if yes please provide names and dosages?

Doctor :   6)was ultrasound scan done for you? if yes were the ovaries found to be normal?
User :   Yes I had regular periods, Laproscopy and HSG done to determine blockages, Doctor told there were no blockages
Doctor :   7) were tests done to determine ovulation? (egg release from ovary)?
Doctor :   8) are you having any stressors in life (personal or work life)? if yes, these could affect hormonal levels and chances of pregnancy
User :   Yes every month I go for ovulation test, Medicated for ovulation, I also had 2 IUI one with tablet and next cycle with injection, but it failed.

Doctor :   9)were tests done for your husband to look for quality and quantity of sperms?
User :   It is not the I stress myself at work, I take things lightly, My husband has oligospermia, he is also under medication
User :   I am thinking of going for IVF, wondering how successful it will be
Doctor :   10) was any time IVF or ICSI tried for you? these involve IVF=in vitro fertilization. ICSI= intracytopalsmic sperm insertion (involves injecting of washed sperms inside egg to bring about fertilization)

User :   No This will be my first IVF
Doctor :   if the IUI is failed, you can opt for either IVF or ICSI to have pregnancy
Doctor :   these have good success rates especially when infertility is due to oligospermia too
User :   I know, but just worried about how successful it will be
Doctor :   have zinc rich diet to improve quality of eggs and sperms
User :   How do i supplement Zinc
Doctor :   zinc rich foods includes beans, lentils, cashew, seafood
User :   Last time my follicle size was 17 mm, Is it good enough,
Doctor :   follicle size of 20mm or more is considered good for ovulation
User :   So, tell me what do I do to increase the chances of a successful IVF
Doctor :   zinc rich foods: all types of nuts, cauliflower, cheese, liver, avocado, oysters, lettuce, red meats, strawberry, wheat germ, wheat AAAAAAA yogurt, pumpkin seeds soya beans, tofu products.
Doctor :   chances of IVF depends on egg and spern quality and timing
Doctor :   usually success rates are above 80%
Doctor :   ICSI can be tried for failed IVF, and it has higher rates of success
User :   What do you mean by egg and sperm quality and timing
Doctor :   the quality has to be good and timing involves size of follicles and the prediction of ovulation
User :   What is the cost difference between ICSI and IVF, Does it result in birth defects
User :   But does it matter for IVF
Doctor :   no they usualy do not results in birth defects as such, but issues of kidney function is reported in children conceived via IVF
Doctor :   yes, it does matter for IVF, as it involves harvesting of eggs
