Doctor:How can I help you?
User:Thanks Dr
Doctor:Do you have any other query?
User:my wife is pregnant, this would be her 4th Month
User:since last night she is having severe cold and sore throat
User:we tried the traditional hot water treatment last night
User:since we didn't want to take medicines without proper suggestion
User:she couldn't sleep at all, now her throat has become sore as well
User:what do you suggest?
Doctor:Is she running fever?
User:no temperature
Doctor:Does she have history of asthma / wheezing?
Doctor:Let me brief you.
Doctor:Since your wife is past 3 months pregnancy antihistamines like cetrizine which are used for routine management of cold is safe.
Doctor:However since the symptoms are only a day old,
Doctor:I woudn't encourage you to try medications this early.
Doctor:I would suggest you to try the routine steam inhalation for a day or two more.
Doctor:She can continue gargling with warm salt water.
Doctor:She can also use throat lozenges such as strepsils.
Doctor:If she has blocked nose, you can use saline nasal drops such as nasoclear to help her sleep.
Doctor:Wait for a day or two more before opting to try medical drugs.
User:ok, thanks for that
Doctor:However during these two days if she develops high grade fever
User:so Nasoclear is safe?
Doctor:she might need to be treated with antibiotic.
Doctor:Nasoclear is a saline drop and is absolutely safe.
Doctor:Have you followed?
Doctor:Do you have any other query?
User:if she develops fever you would suggest that we see the Doctor?
Doctor:If fever is a mild one (under 100 degree) she can take calpol tablets and observe. However high grade fever with temperature above 100 deg F will need medical attention.
User:I think I got it
Doctor:Do you have any other query?
User:thanks for your time
Doctor:Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor:Bye for now.
