Doctor:How can I help you?
User:Hi.. good morning!
User:My wife is pregnant. 30th week is running
User:last week, we got her urine test result and observed that there are a few pus cells (2-3)
User:planning to do a urine culture test today
User:is it ok to give the sample in the afternoon or should it be given only in the morning (first sample) ?
Doctor:The time of sampling is not very important in this case, but always preferable to give an early morning sample.
Doctor:But what is more important
Doctor:is that she collects the mid stream urine.
Doctor:meaning, she needs to pass out the first few drops/initial stream of urine and collect the later.
Doctor:Last stream of urine can also be discarded.
Doctor:Have you followed?
Doctor:Do you have any other query?
User:her Leucocytes count is very high, its about 15,100
User:so,i am lil worried
User:for pregnant ladies, it will be more than the normal
User:however, 15,100 is far more than that concession :(
User:may be she is fighting with some infection
User:just wanted to confirm that
User:yah.. i understand your explantion on mid stream urine collection.
Doctor:Mid stream urine is more indicative of the actual infection.
Doctor:The initial and last part of urine can have some normal skin contaminants which can give abnormal results.
Doctor:however what ever urine sample she submits, if the colony count is abnormal it suggests infection.
Doctor:Do you have any other query?
User:no.. thanks.
User:so, the conclusion is, i can take her to the hospital in the afternoon for giving the sample
User:i need not hv to wait till tomorrow morning
Doctor:Yes. There is no need to wait till the morning.
Doctor:Is there any thing else?
User:Thanks for your assitance
Doctor:Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor:Bye for now.
