Pregnant. Having Echogenic focus in the left ventricle. Risks involved? - Online Doctor Chats
How can I help you?
gud afternoon doc
im XXXXXXX ,25 years,and i'm 6 months pregnent now
i had my scan in the 5 th month and there was an obsevation XXXXXXX echogenic focus" in the left ventricle seen
they also mentioned..it will not lead to any heart risk..however i jus wanted to recheck on the same
wat does this exactly mean
Echogenic focus in the left ventricle alone has less clinical significance, however in association with other parameters, it cannot be neglected.
I would like to know if you have discussed this scan report with your gynecologist?
And if any other tests like triple marker were done?
the other reports are all fine
no she dint ask for any other test
Can you confirm if the scan was regular antenatal scan or your heart echocardiogram?
it was anomoly scan
Let me brief you.
Echogenic focus in anomoly scan can be normal like what your doctor said, but in a small group of patient,
this can mean a genetic abnormality which needs to be cross checked.
Discuss further with your gynecologist about repeating the ultrasound scan and whether or not you require further testing like triple serum marker/karyotyping.
If I were to be treating you, I would suggest these investigation before ruling out the echogenic focus as normal.
in which month would you suggest these tests
All these test have better significance and diagnostic use when done during early pregnancy.
Perhaps as you are in the 6th month, the doctor may not have pressed for this test.
i got the same done in the 3rd month also
Ok and was the echogenicity noted on the 3rd month too?
shall i go for the same scan again or only the new tests will do..or both scan and test should be done
Repeating the scan is not required.
But since whether or not you require further test is slightly difficult for me to say,
as my expertise are limited.
I shall get your query addressed by a gynecologist
for a more specific and personalised answer.
Is it fine?
can i call the doc u r referrring to and talk?
I don't think they are available to you over a phone call.
You may post the query to them
and I shall get a gynecologist to answer your query.
Is there any other query?
no thank you
Thanks for consulting me.
Bye for now.
