Doctor:How can I help you?
User:Hi Doctor
User:Good Afternnon!
Doctor:Good afternoon
User:I am a 20 weeks pregnant!!
Doctor:Proceed with your query
User:By LMP, I must be a 22 weeks pregnant
User:but by scan, I am just 20 weeks...
User:May I know why this difference?
User:My doctor said, my baby's growth is little less and It might be a miscarry...
Doctor:Ultrasound scan calculates period of gestation based on the growth of baby.
User:So, she suggested me to take susten tablets till my 34th week
Doctor:The dates calculated suggests that your baby has grown upto 20 weeks.
User:so, susten helps me in my baby's growth?
Doctor:Since you are currently 22 weeks based on your dates, your doctor is right that the baby is small for growth.
User:but may I know why this happens?
User:is there anything wrong with me?
User:is there any problem to my baby?
Doctor:Susten is a hormonal pills which is prescribed to prevent miscarriage. You will benefit from this pill.
User:When I undergone my initial UPT and blood test also, she said she can consider this as partial pregnancy only and she did not confirm until my first scan
Doctor:The exact reason for reduced growth is not clearly known.
User:will this be the case for my next baby also?
Doctor:It can be attributed to various factors
User:can we predict this problem in advance and avoid this late ovulation?
User:I am using ecosprin also. I am worried about my tablets as I am taking too many tablets daily.
Doctor:Let me be precise.
Doctor:Undergrown babies, the cause are multifactorial. However which of these is the cause in you
Doctor:is difficult to be determined.
Doctor:Further such events can be sporadic and your subsequent pregnancy can be normal.
User:is it because of late ovulation? is the egg release not on time for me?
Doctor:But in a small percentage of people,
Doctor:there is a risk that your subsequent pregnancy can also have similar undergone pregnancy.
Doctor:especially if the cause is related to genetic factors.
User:ohh!! is there any possibility to avoid this problem?
Doctor:2. Ovulation and ecosprin tablets does not affect the growth of fetus.
Doctor:The days of ovulation only influence success of pregnancy.
User:so, my doubt is
Doctor:It doesn't have any role in the occurrence of undergrown baby.
User:why number of weeks of pregnancy is not calculated from the day of ovulation?
User:why do they always calculate from the LMP?
Doctor:The day of ovulation is an upredictable date
Doctor:Therefore LMP was used to determine the period of gestation.
User:even after using susten, is there any chance of getting a small baby still?
User:is there any risk in my pregnancy and to my baby?
Doctor:There have been many cases where small for dates baby have survived the whole period of pregnancy.
Doctor:Susten is a tablet given to improve the chances of your baby going through the pregnancy.
User:Ok. and another doubt is, if the intercross happens after ovulation, does it affect the baby's growth...? because, when we first met the doctor, she asked us not to intercross. So, I just want to know whether it is that which is affecting my baby's growth....
Doctor:It does not increase the growth of fetus.
Doctor:Intercourse very late after ovulation will not cause pregnancy at all.
Doctor:Intercourse within 3-5 days only can cause pregnancy.
Doctor:Therefore there is no question if very late intercourse after days of ovulation will affect growth of baby.
User:in December, I used tablets to delay my periods. and it was delayed by 4days and that was my LMP
User:can that be the reason for this?
Doctor:No, that would not be the cause.
User:does my emotions effect?
User:mental stress and all!?
Doctor:No, emotional and mental stress are not the cause.
User:ok Doctor..
User:Thanks so much!
Doctor:The cause could be genes related, reduced nutrition, intrauterine factors, anemia, smoking, etc.
Doctor:could be few factors for undergrown babies.
Doctor:Do you have any other questions?
User:no doctor.. Thank you so much for your time!
Doctor:Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor:Bye for now.
