Doctor:How can I help you?
User:My name is XXXXXXX and I am 31 weeks pregnant
User:I've noticed over the past few days that whenever I lay on my right side, the baby starts kicking violently.
User:desperate kind of kicks
User:But when I move over to the left side, the kicks stop
User:Is this something I should be concerned about?
Doctor:When was your last ultrasound scan?
User:28th July
User:during that scan, the radiologist did notice 2 lose loops of the umbilical cord around the baby's neck
User:but he said it is normal
User:my next scan is on 28th Aug
Doctor:Thanks for providing the details.
Doctor:What you described concerns me a bit.
User:What do you suggest?
Doctor:Pregnant women close to term are advised to lie on one side (especially the left side).
Doctor:This because the placenta is attached to the right and lying on the right side can reduce blood supply.
User:I try to lie as much as I can on my left but my sides hurt if I lie for too long
Doctor:In your case, lying on the one side is affecting blood circulation to the fetus thus lowering the fetal kicks.
Doctor:This is not very common, but cannot be neglected since the last scan showed 2 loops around the neck.
Doctor:I suggest you to report back to your gynecologist at the earliest.
User:Oh ok. Will do so
User:Otherwise the baby is very active through out the day and I don't face any problem
Doctor:she can re-examine you and the baby and if needed can plan for ultrasound check and fetal heart rate monitoring and plan for further managment.
User:Its only when I lie on my right side
User:right. Will check with the gynaec
Doctor:*I do not foresee any major trouble, but the gross variation needs to be checked.
User:Thank you
