User :   Hi, Im 31 weeks pregnant with my first child, a boy. I went to the doctor on tuesday and I have every symptom of preeclampsia; protein in urine, gaining 10 pounds in one month, swollen hands and face, sudden vision problems. my doctor didn't give much information and just told me bed rest, (is that partial? complete?) im not sure what exactly im supposed to do. i check my blood pressure regularly and the lastest update was 166/103, and thats being bedridden all day. I also got a vile of blood taken today, so im doing everything i was told, but should i be driving? or go to the ER because my blood pressure wont come down? please help!
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Let me read it
User :   Thank You!
Doctor :   May I know your age?
User :   21
Doctor :   Since which week of pregnancy were you diagnosed to be a case of pre-eclampsia?
User :   this past tuesday.
User :   so 31 weeks of pregnancy.
User :   I'm meeting with my doctor now every week, but i wont see him til next thursday. I have called his office but the nurses couldnt give me any information.
Doctor :   When did you get this value of 166/103? How much was it when last measured by doc?
User :   blood pressure of 166/103 was this afternoon, with no activity. On Tuesday with the doctor it was 170/105.
User :   The numbers see-saw mostly, lowest has been 154/99
Doctor :   When any patient presents with symptoms of Preeclampsia, she is asked to take bed rest, high protein diet & mild sedatives could be prescribed
Doctor :   at bed time
Doctor :   then an assessment is done after a week to establish the diagnosis
Doctor :   since its already been a week
User :   I wasn't given any sedatives and he told me nothing of my diet change. I really appreciate it. Should i be on full bedrest
Doctor :   & there seems to be no improvement
Doctor :   you need treatment for preeclampsia
User :   right, i had blood drawn today for preeclampsia. Do you think the doctor could be waiting on results?
Doctor :   Do you have any sympyoms?
Doctor :   Yes
