User :   My 3 months old baby boy is suffering from coughing and cold since last 3-4 days.
Symptoms - we could hear loud wheezing sound while breathing and also he was very restless and could not sleep.
Our Padeatric physician prescribed the following medicines -
1) Cefadur syrup 2)Ventorlin Cyrup 3) Recofast Syrup
Now there is no wheezing sound, but he continuously has a dry cough for long time during nights... His feed intake is ok..but not as it was 3-4 days before.
Is the prescription correct ?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Let me read your query
User :   GM doctor
User :   Is my query clear??
Doctor :   Prescription is correct since wheezing is no more present.
User :   so that means the dry cough will vanish in few days??
Doctor :   But you need to continue Ventrolin Syrup for sometime to prevent the dry cough
Doctor :   Yes
User :   ok
User :   is there a need for additional tests
Doctor :   Also get him examined by an ENT doctor.
User :   yes..
Doctor :   He will examine if there is any post nasal drip
Doctor :   Post-nasal drip (PND) occurs when excessive mucus is produced by the sinuses and it gets accumulated in nose or throat
User :   ok..
User :   but no need to worry ??
Doctor :   At this moment the treatment seems to be fine, also the child is responding well.
User :   he is not able to sleep due to the cough..any medication required for that?
Doctor :   Thats why i recommended you the ENT examination, if there is post nasal drip. treatment will be given for that.
Doctor :   Since it disturbs the sleep.
User : that is important..
Doctor :   Yes it is
User :   our genreal ENT specialist will be ok or there are padeatric ENT soecialists??
Doctor :   Both are fine, you can consult any of them.
User :   the amount of recofast prescrible is 2.5ml - 3 times a it on higher side?
Doctor :   No it is fine.
User :   i think this small chat with you has relived me of my worries..
Doctor :   No need to worry.
User :   thanks...i think i shall meet an ENT specialist first..
Doctor :   Yes that is fine.
Doctor :   All the best and take care.
User :   and i should continue with the prescription
Doctor :   Yes you can continue with the prescription
