User :   I just wanted an opinion on a head injury i sustained a few months ago
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :
Please proceed with the query?
Doctor :   Are you there?

User :   I suffered from a head injury, most things were minor (facial cuts etc) except the most serious thing was a small brain contusion on the right frontal lobe (near to the temporal lobe).
User :   Yes sorry I was typing
Doctor :
Ok
User :   I didnt lose consciousness after but had amnesia for about 5 hours, i was assessed with GCS 15 on the day of the injury
Doctor :
Ok
User :   The problem I have is that I just don't feel the same as I did before the injury in terms of thinking, interaction with people etc and I don't know if this could be permanent damage caused by the contusion
Doctor :
Concussion injury is a minor injury when compared to other brain injuries.
Doctor :
To help you better in this.
Doctor :
May i know your age and gender?
User :   I am 26 years old and male, I've been healthy both mentally and physically before the injury. The CT scans showed a brain contusion rather than just concussion.
Doctor :   I am sorry.
Doctor :
They mean the same in terms of injury.
Doctor :
The frontal lobe of the brain is associated with the
Doctor :
memory, cognitine behavior and judgement.
Doctor :
Since you had small bleeding which is termed as contusion
Doctor :   Some peopls get these symptoms following the injury.
Doctor :
However these symptoms slowly regress.
Doctor :
The time it takes varies from few months.
Doctor :
It can last for upto3 to 5 months.
Doctor :
Bit it is a reversible condition.
Doctor :
Have you followed?
User :   I don't feel severe changes, just mild but I notice it
Doctor :
Yes,
Doctor :
Yous symptoms are related to the site of injury.
Doctor :
This indicates that there is no other brain damage.
Doctor :
Hence they will definitely improve.
Doctor :   And they are not permanent changes.
User :   They said that there were two small contusions near each other - one in the frontal lobe and one in the sylvian fissure (if that has any significance im not too sure)
Doctor :
Contusion injuries just means small bleed in the brain, which happens due to injury.
Doctor :
These bleed slowly disappears.
Doctor :
just like any bleeding in any area.
Doctor :
As the blood resolves.
Doctor :
The brain takes some time to get back to normality.
Doctor :
So you canrelax.
Doctor :
These symptoms will last only till that time
Doctor :   You will be better after that.
User :   and does the area where it happened heal up over time - i've just got this notion of permanent functional/structural damage
Doctor :   Yes.

Doctor :
They heal up.
Doctor :
And since you are still young,
Doctor :
even if there is some minor damage,
Doctor :
the other part of the brain will take up
Doctor :
this function.
Doctor :
And every thing will be back to normal.
Doctor :
This might have been a different senario
User :   I do have some other symptoms which I guess may be affecting my performance - I have a feeling of fullness in my ear near the injury when this happened
Doctor :
You probably might have sustained minor injuries to the ear also/
User :   I did have dizziness for a weeks after the injury, this has cleared up mostly but I still have this feeling of fullness
Doctor :
And they will also heal.
Doctor :
Yes/
Doctor :
They are part of post trauma symptoms.
Doctor :
they are commonly seen in any contussion injuries.
Doctor :
Similarly your present problems too improve.
User :   and im not sure if this problem in my ear may also be affecting coordination with my eye on the same side
Doctor :
I mean the problems will also improve.
Doctor :   Are you having any hearing difficulty?

Doctor :
Do you have any other ENT problems?
User :   No, hearing is fine, i feel its more to do with balance (yet my balance seems stable). I dont have any other ENT problems, just that side of my head doesn't feel the same as the other side since the injury
Doctor :
The incoordination you are having are secondary to fullness of the ear.
Doctor :
I shall suggest you few exercises that will make you better.
Doctor :
And these symptoms are also only going to last for some time.
Doctor :
I shall suggest these exercises when i have clarified all your other doubts.
User :   My sleeping has also been disturbed, its just not the same as it was but I guess this is something that will return to normal
Doctor :   Yes.

Doctor :   I will suggest you to relax a bit on this.
Doctor :
Because the more anxious you become,
Doctor :
You shall have other symptoms secondary to anxiety.
Doctor :
Hence just relax your self.
Doctor :
I shall guarantee you, every thing will be normal in a few days.
Doctor :
If not in a month.
User :   Well its been three months now since the injury, and im just hoping that my brain will be able to function how it did before (thats my only main anxiety)
Doctor :   I have mentioned before that
Doctor :
These symptoms normally can take 3 to 5 months
Doctor :
to improve.
User :   Yes thankyou, neurosurgeons have also said the same thing
Doctor :
Hence you need not worry.
Doctor :
Ok.
Doctor :
If there are no other query,
Doctor :
Shall i suggest you those exercises.
User :   No, thankyou very much for the advice, yes those exercises would be useful
Doctor :
These are simple exercises.
Doctor :

Doctor :
