User :   Hello. I had a question regarding platelet counts.

User :   My platelet count over the past year and 1/2 has gone from 280,000 to 225,000. I am concerned.
Doctor :   thats completely normal counts
Doctor :   you need not be concerned
User :   I realize that the counts are normal, but does a drop of 20% in these counts have any significance?
Doctor :   if the counts are less than 150,000 then u need to think about
Doctor :   no this could be variations done during the test or due to diurnal variations
Doctor :   can u tell me ur age, and y the test was done ?
User :   My age is 51. Two tests were done during normal checkups at a lab. The other two were done during visits to the ER for Kidney stones.

Doctor :   there is no need for alarm right now, as the counts are normal
Doctor :   can u tell me whats your Hb (hemoglobin) level
User :   Hb was boderline low
Doctor :   Are u on any medications ?
Doctor :   or do u have any other medical issues ?
User :   Nifedipine Er, Metoprolol Tartrate, Lisinopril, Simvastatin

Doctor :   there is no need to be concerned right now
User :   what do you mean no need to be concerned "right now".
Docto : I meant, you are completely healthy and have good counts
Doctor :   and there is no need to worry
User :   I thank you for your comments. Is there anything I can do to raise my Hb count?
Doctor :   good nutricius diet , like green leavfy veg, and iron supplements will help
User :   will this help maintain platelets levels as well?
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   but also take B12 & fiolic acid supplements as well
Doctor :   this will increase BLood cell production in the bone marrow
User :   do you think a multivitamin be sufficient
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   but make sure that all contain B12 , Folic acid
User :   can you recommend a multivitamin
Doctor :   Iron suppements are needed
Doctor :   any multivitamin available in the pharmacy can b eused
User :   any other advise you can offer?
Doctor :   keep urself heathy and fit, by excersise regularrely
Doctor :   have good healthy habits, nutircious diet and be complient with your medications
User :   could any of the medications i listed effect these blood count levels?
Doctor :   no, they do not cause any issues like plateket destruction etc
