User :   I had cough like symptoms couple of days back
User :   Then this stopped by following precautions like drinking warm water etc

User :   But yesterday, I had cold and felt feverish
Doctor :   You can start with antibitotics.
User :   Today, there is no fever, but the cold persists

User :   Again it is not too severe

User :   I was wondering if I should take any OTC medication or just wait for another day
Doctor :   You can take cough lozenges
Doctor :   Do you have sore throat
Doctor :   any running nose
User :   No sore throat, but there is running nose
Doctor :   Take hot soups, hot beverages, warm food.Continue with the boiled drinking water.
Doctor :   You can also start with hot vapour inhalation.
Doctor :   Add some vicks drops to it and start inhaling,it will reduce your cold.
Doctor :   Drink lemon and honey in warm water.
User :   Sure. Also would it be better to avoid A/C?

User :   I have a high BP problem for the last 4-5 years. I am taking medication for this regularly

User :   as couple of other people in the family also have BP

User :   I am taking the following medication: nebi 2.5 (morning) and Telma 40 (night)
User :   About 9 months back

Doctor :   nonveg ?
User :   I am a vegetarian

User :   From a long term perspective, is this dosage too high?

Doctor :   It depends on your bp
Doctor :   is your bp under control
Doctor :   if it is ok, you cannot reduce it.

User :   yes, it was 120/80 for last few weeks
Doctor :   Ok .are you taking any other measures to reduce bp
Doctor :   like exercise , meditation.
User :   I do exercise regularly and started yoga
Doctor :   If you walk atleast half hour a day it will reduce in 3 months.
Doctor :   Then you can consult your physician to slowly reduce the dosage.
Doctor :   How is the oil intake in your diet.
User :   It is very controlled, mostly south indian diet
Doctor :   Have you reduced salt in your diet.
User :   yes
Doctor :   Use rice bran oil
Doctor :   eat more boiled steamed food , like idli
Doctor :   eat brown rice
User :   We are currently using sundrop. Should we change to rice bran oil?

Doctor :   you get different kind of salt in organic shop

User :   No (except for my grandfather)
Doctor :   ok ,fine.You are following everything like yoga and exercises .You can start meditation too.

Doctor :   I have seen people having 180/100 reduce to 120/80 in 3 months due to walking and diet restriction without any tablets.
Doctor :   You can slowly reduce your medicines but you can have constantly monitor your b.p.
Doctor :   Check out your kidney function test too.
