User :   hi i just used olive oil and garlic for my ear pressure and pain i beleive i have an ear infection i got the oil to hot and burned my ear drum it was in there for only a second what should i do did i burst my ear drum or cause permamnent damage
Doctor :   Let me read your query
User :   i feel a slight pain
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   It would not have caused a permanent damage
Doctor :   but yes it requires a check up by the Doctor with an Otoscope
Doctor :   For now, you should take Motrin 400mg to reduce the pain
User :   because i would have more symptons right
Doctor :   It is not a good idea to put hot oil in the ear
User :   ya i know i thought it was cooler then it was
User :   i could not hear today it felt like there was something was blocking i have had this ear problem for two years now it never quite clears up but it gets better and then worse could it be that my wisdom teeth are causing a blockage
Doctor :   Ok the next step for you to see a Doctor
Doctor :   and check
Doctor :   What is your age?
User :   i am just scared because i can feel the burn when i swallow but it will heal right without permanent damage
User :   i am 31
Doctor :   Ear drum is sensitive and it can be damaged.
Doctor :   However it is reversible most of the time
Doctor :   Hence to know the extent of damage it is important to check the area
User :   by surgery or by itself
Doctor :   The Doctor shall atleast clear the area
Doctor :   so prevent further damage
Doctor :   Do not try to put any object inside the ear for yourself
Doctor :   except superficial cotton if it can absorb the extra oil
Doctor :   if present
Doctor :   Keeping that ear to the gravity shall trickle down the extra oil
User :   what kind of doctor should i see and should i rush in or can i wait a couple of days because of work
User :   should i keep a cotton ball in the burnt ear for the next couple of days
Doctor :   I suggest you to see the Doctor immediately to prevent further damage
Doctor :   Waiting is not advised
User :   like emergency room immediately or tomorrow morning
Doctor :   ER immediately
Doctor :   with the said measures I told you now
User :   and is this because of the burn that i need to rush in
Doctor :   ear drum can be saved from permanent damage
Doctor :   if you check it
User :   because of the burn?
Doctor :   Yes
User :   ok thanks
Doctor :   Most often it is the local area that burns but I shall never know without seeing that
Doctor :   Is it not?
User :   is it not what
Doctor :   about burns
Doctor :   causing damage to ear drum
Doctor :   External Ear has good protective mechanism inside with hair which takes time for the oil to reach the drum
Doctor :   Before than if the oil is removed the ear drum is saved
User :   i felt it burn sommething inside and immediately turned my head over to get it out
Doctor :   Ok, so please do not waste time
