Doctor :   hi
Doctor :
how can i help you?
User :   hello. how common are ruptured brain aneurysms in young adults like ages 21-28
Doctor :
please proceed with your health query
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
brain aneurysms are itself having incidence rate of 2-3% in young adult population
Doctor :   Brain aneurysms though can occur in people of all ages, but they are most commonly detected in those ages 35 to 60
Doctor :   have you followed what i have said?
User :   yes. i am scared i have one... i am a 21 year old female and i have had a headache for 3 days...and i don't really get headaches hardly ever
Doctor :   and regarding rupture of aneurysms, almost 60% of people die on the way to hospital
Doctor :
just having headaches is not a symptoms of aneurysm alone
Doctor :
have you had any MRI brain done for the haeadches?
Doctor :
what medication did you take for the headaches?
User :   no, i never get headaches. i've had numerous CT's without contrast. but no one will do an MRI. please let me add that i have high anixety and panic attacks related to health issues (i.e brain aneurysm, heart attack, DVT, pulmoary embolism that kinda stuff) so i have been to the ER numerous of times when i have a headache thinking an aneurysm ruptured. i do take advil and it does seem to help. it's not like my headache is debilitating. i can function normally with minimal pain
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
since you mentioned anxiety and panic attacks.. are you on any medication for them?
User :   eh...i have ativan. and i only take it if i ABSOULETLY have too.... ive had a script which was 20 pills since june...and i still have at least 10 pills left. i do no like to take them unless i have to
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
i suggest that you take continuous treatment
Doctor :   for anxiety
Doctor :
such that you avoid these attacks
User :   well i was prescribe celexa but i wont take it due to the fear of having an allergic reaction... i am just so worried that i have a ruptured brain aneurysm
Doctor :
also you will also need a counselling session by a psychologist for these anixety and panic attacks related to health issues (i.e brain aneurysm, heart attack, DVT, pulmoary embolism issues)
Doctor :   you first need to stop worrying
Doctor :
since yout CT scan ddi not show one, there are chances that you wont have one
Doctor :
also you need to discuss your fears regarding the medication and the other medical issues with your doctor and also with the psychologist
User :   i thought CT scans couldnt detect unruptured aneurysms. and the last time i had one was probably 4-5 months ago
Doctor :
the headaches could be just stress headaches due to all these issues running in your head
Doctor :
so relax, try to practice relaxatio techniques
Doctor :
this itself will take away the headaches
Doctor :
in case you stil feel the cause to be aneurysm
Doctor :
then discuss this with your neurologist
Doctor :
also if you did have a 'ruptured aneurysm' then you will not be here, probably you wil be either on the way to hospital or already in the ICU.
Doctor :
as 60% of people having this usually die on their wayto hospital
User :   so it wouldn't just be a headache it would be way worse?? to the point where i wouldn't be able to type this?
Doctor :
and since you are just 21 years
Doctor :
its not likely that you wil have this
Doctor :
as this is commonly found in age group of 30-65 years
Doctor :
so stop worrying about them
Doctor :
relax yourself and your mind
Doctor :
take deep breaths and count upto ten whenever you feel you are getting stressed
Doctor :
meet a neurologist to discuss possibility of your symptoms being due to aneurysms.
Doctor :
and also take a counselling session with a psychologist
Doctor :
for your anxiety and panic attacks
Doctor :
take medications for these regularly
Doctor :
you may ask for medication change if you do not feel comfortable with the medications that are prescribed to you.
Doctor :   have you followed what i have said?
Doctor :
are you there?
