User :   Hello, I have been bleeding black blood (no red or pink) during my periods for the last two years. Periods only last for two days maximum and I have constant sharp stabbing pain in the lower pelvic region. Last papsmear came back fine and I have had the cervical cancer vaccination. I have an appointment with my GP on Tuesday but was wondering if there was anything in particular I should ask?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Let me read your query
Doctor :   Why were you concerned now about the black blood when it is been for two years, any reason?
User :   The pain has been steadily getting worse and am getting to an age when I am thinking about kids.
Doctor :   Can you describe about this sharp pain further? When did it start, onset and location of it
Doctor :   So you are more concerned about pain now than the color of the blood
User :   Pain has always been there, it is localized very low above the ovaries and cervix, pain sometimes radiates to lower back
User :   I know that black blood defines old blood
Doctor :   Do you have regular menstrual periods?
Doctor :   Please be patient as my questionnaire now is going to be lengthy
User :   I am on the pill, so have regular periods in accordance with that but they only last two days
Doctor :   When did you start on pill?
User :   have been on the pill for over 15 years
Doctor :   Do you have pain before the onset of periods or on the day of periods?
User :   pain is constant
Doctor :   What is your age, marital status?
User :   29, long term partner
Doctor :   Did you revise the use of pills for so many years?
User :   no gp said it was ok
Doctor :   Any other medical conditions that happen to be known
User :   fibromyalgia, barre lieou, depression,
Doctor :   Did you address this pain to your GP earlier?
User :   no
Doctor :   Do you have pain while sexual intercourse?
User :   occasionally, with deep penetration
Doctor :   Ok, were you examined by the Gynecologist or GP, vaginally ever?
User :   GP did general interanl exam at last pap smear and said everything seemed ok
Doctor :   Did you have pain while taking pap smear or when doing routine physical examinations?
User :   Some, but I have alot of pain so forghet to mention it at times
Doctor :   Ok, taking your medical history here, addressing your current concern and future needs, my suggestions go thus: Doctor :   1) The pain that you have is probably because of Fibromyalgia or Endometriosis
Doctor :   2) The dark colored blood may be or may not be related to your pain
Doctor :   However I could think of following possibilities for it, chronic use of pills and Endometriosis
Doctor :   3) Since your immediate need is to plan for baby, I would ask you to plan a referral to Gynecologist by your GP
Doctor :   4) You may consider taking Folic acid and Iron supplements speaking to GP
Doctor :   Did you follow?
User :   Yes, unsure how continual use of the pill can cause symptoms though
Doctor :   The main symptom (pain) is not because of use of pills
Doctor :   Usage of pills should reduce the pain
Doctor :   I am saying about dark colored blood
User :   Ok
User :   ANything else I should ask?
Doctor :   Investigate for anemia
User :   Anemia is not an option, regularly give blood
Doctor :   Ok gr8
Doctor :   This is all I could think of for now
User :   OK thank you for your help
Doctor :   Thank you for consulting
Doctor :   Bye for now
