more tender as I age. Female 54 Avid tennis player,
Doctor :   Hi
User :   these bumps are not topical, I've had them ultrasounded and they are not fluid filled
Doctor :   Since when have you noticed these lumps?
Doctor :   Do you have the reports of the ultrasound scans with you?
User :   They started around 5 years ago and have continued to make more
Doctor :   Ok
User :   The ultraasound reports was a big neg They didn't show up at all.
User :   I have not had a mri, too much $ now
Doctor :   On compressing the lumps, do they collapse?
User :   I have an appt with an orthopedic next week. No, they are soft but do not compress flat.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   You reported pain - do you mean tenderness?
Doctor :   Or do you meant that you develop pain after walking for a while?
User :   Yes, I'm not sure what aggravates them but after skiing and running they become very tender. Ice doesn't phase it.
Doctor :   Do you feel the lumps or are they visible too?
User :   I stand on my feet all day, I'm a trainer. Yes, just standing right now is painful. No, not visable , only when you run fingers down skin.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Do you have them on both the limbs?
Doctor :   Can you describe the size of the lumps?
User :   Weird, yes, right leg has a few but not the same in size. The main one is the size of a marble just under the outside of my back knee. as you run down my leg they get smaller and are spaced irregularly until they are the size of a pencil eraser.
User :   Could these be baby bakers cysts? I thought they were fluid filled. These are mushy
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :   Do you have any other medical illness such as diabetes, thyroid dysfunctions?
Doctor :   May I know what were the opinion of the doctors who examined you?
User :   No, take armour thyroid 5 gr , and some testrone
User :   First one said they would go away. Second sent me for ultrasound and said just don't know but they weren't cancer or cysts so don't worry. Third said take a steroid and come back.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me explain to you.
Doctor :   Sitting from this far without a physical examination, it is hard to determine what exactly these limps are
Doctor :   however based on your description, I can think of the following possibilities.
User :   I know, just wanted to chat to see if you had seen anything like this.
Doctor :   Baker's cyst is an isolated cyst seen around the inside of the knee joint, so I do not consider them as baker's cyst.
Doctor :   The following are the possibilities
Doctor :   1. lymphadenitis,
Doctor :   2. Fibromas
Doctor :   3. Neurofibromas
Doctor :   4. Venous conditions - thrombophlebitis, Venous thrombosis. venous malformations
User :   4 was rulled out with ultr
User :   venious ultra sound
Doctor :   5. A functional condition and could be psychogenic.
Doctor :   6. lipoma's are another possibility, but firm nature of the lumps are against the findings of lipoma.
User :   Do you believe in sports, lymphatic massage. Yes, my dr friend said no to that one too.
Doctor :   Apart from the 4th condition, all the other conditions are benign condition which needs no serious concern.
User :   Right, but they hurt and I can't RUN Need to fix it!!
Doctor :   You can discuss with your doctors and review the ultrasound scans to rule these conditions out.
Doctor :   If all other organic conditions are ruled out by examination and scans, then this could be one of the functional condition which needs a totally different approach.
