User :   I have a history of panic anxiety from age 20 and in recent five years some depression. I had blood work done 2 months ago and had tsh of 4.55, cholesterol 209, testosterone 270, and dhea 621. I started on synthroid 50mcg and androderm (dropping prozac 10mg at same time). I had mood problems and my md took me off androderm and put me on wellbutrin. Then my lab work this week showed 1.3 tsh, testostyerone 300, and cholesterol 180. So my md said forget the hormones your basically normal and stay on wellbutrin, but then yesterday we dropped that and switched back to prozac and I already feel better. Shouldn't I stay on synthroid, and what about the dhea. My family md "didn't know what is was."
Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   Dr. XXXXXXXX here. let me read what you have typed.
User :   ok
Doctor :   your TSH being normal could be the effect of the Synthroid
Doctor :   do not stop it if you were taking it earlier
User :   I know that is why he didn't mention it is working
Doctor :   continue on the prozac or the Wellbutrin as decided by your treating physician
Doctor :   do you have any symptoms at present?
Doctor :   if you are still having mood problems, then continuing on Wellbutrin and Synthroid would be better.
User :   ok I was depressed and he thought maybe the hormones did all this but I had depression before but it would go away quickly on prozac or wellbutrin(not this time on wellbutrin), I had anxiety forever and take 1mg ativan 3x, and enlarged prostate and take hytrin 2mg a day. I stayed on the synthroid even though he said not too and I feel anxious but better otherwise
Doctor :   please provide your age.
User :   I am 61
Doctor :   for the depression Prozac should be continued. continue your medications for the anxiety and enlarged prostate as usual, no changes in that
User :   my anxiety is mild and controlled by ativan and prozac for the most part
Doctor :   and continue the Synthroid too since it has made you feel better and showed a better TSH control
Doctor :   coming to DHEA, it is a precursor hormone for Testosterone, do not worry about its levels, as long as testosterone levels are fine.
Doctor :   your levels for your age are fine for testosterone, so do not worry about it.
User :   should have adrenals imaged with dhea
Doctor :   DHEA levels should be between 180-1250 ng/dl, so your values are fine, do not worry.
User :   I will stay with ativan, prozac, synthroid-ok should sythroid stay at 50mvg
Doctor :   testosterone levels above 50 years should be upto 350 ng/dl, so yours is fine
Doctor :   yes Synthroid 50 mcg is fine, as it has proven its effect in controlling TSH from 4.55 to 1.3 which is a good one
User :   ok thank you
Doctor :   have you followed what I have said?

User :   yes I feel good about this
Doctor :   is there anything else I can help you with?
User :   no I am happy to hear your answers and thanks again
Doctor :   ok. thanks for consulting me. bye for now. do get back to me if you have further queries.
