User :   For 3 days now I've had unbelievable pain in my anus - so much so that it hurts to do anything - walk, sit, lay down, etc.
User :   i have no clue how this works. is someone there?
Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hi
Doctor :   do you have hard stools
User :   no they are soft - i've also been taking benefiber
Doctor :   was there any blood passed in the stools
User :   no blood in the toilet - sometimes there's a touch on the toilet paper - not much
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   is this the first time or did this happened previously also
User :   first time - i've never experienced pain like this - i'm a little concerned about the way my rectal area looks
Doctor :   is there any mass protruding out ?
User :   no
User :   i've checked for that several times
Doctor :   this is acute anal fissure, one of the anal wall has cracked during passage of hard stool
Doctor :   it is very painful
Doctor :   you need to do the following
Doctor :   sitz bath,
Doctor :   means
Doctor :   add 10 ml of betadine solution(this is available otc) to luke warm water
Doctor :   and sit into the tub for to minutes
User :   how long?
Doctor :   10 Minutes*
User :   oh ok
User :   what about the outer area?
Doctor :   also you can apply lignocaine gel 2% to the anus before passage of stools
Doctor :   the surrounding area ia macerated because of the crack and moistuness because of it
Doctor :   sitx bath will help in healing it
Doctor :   stools should be soft
Doctor :   you continu to take the softener
Doctor :   with in 2 days the pain should reduce
Doctor :   and in a week time all the symptoms should clear
User :   i'm taking fiber and stools are soft. so the red bumps (and a few white ones) that are surrounding the crack are expected?
User :   becuase those the outer area is more painful than anything
Doctor :   outer area of the anus is more painful because of rich nerve innervation
Doctor :   usually the sitz bath will clear of the bumps and associated pain
Doctor :   if not than you need to consult a surgeon for the procedure
User :   ok i will give it a try
Doctor :   if the pain reduces within two days than it means it is responding and you continue sitz bath for 2 weeks
User :   at how many times per day?
Doctor :   twice a day once in the morning and once in the night
User :   ok - will adding the betadine solution make the sitz bath painful?
Doctor :   it is the medicine which makes clears the bump and the redness
Doctor :   it is not painful
Doctor :   see that the water is luke warm
User :   ok i'm going to give this a try tonight. thank you.
