Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   how can i help u?

User :   Yes I had a couple of sharp chest pains on my left side yesterday which I think has to do with me not eating lunch. I did not feel anymore pains there after that yesterday. Today I am eating much better and am feeling small pains in that same area.
Doctor :
ok
User :   It is just scaring me and I made an appt. for Monday to see my doctor.
Doctor :   can i ask u few questions
User :   yes
Doctor :
whats ur age/sex?
User :   32 female
Doctor :
ok
User :   I had a problem with gastritis due to advil and aleve back in august.
Doctor :
fdid u have similar complaints before?
Doctor :
ohh ok
Doctor :
are u taking any medication for gastritis now?
User :   The dr's gave me a lot of medicine that just made me worse until I stopped taking it all.
User :   I have slowly recovered but have small chest pains. this last week had been great until yesterday.
User :   I am taking tums
User :   tylenol as needed too.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :
tylenol?
Doctor :
why are u taking tylenol?
User :   I threw up acid this morning and have been gagging all morning too.
Doctor :
do u have any fever?
User :   I take tylenol for pain I had a headache on Monday and that was the time I took it.
User :   no fever
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :   even tylenol acn aggrevate gastritis
User :   I think I am throwing up because I am stressed because of yesterdays chest pains
Doctor :
ok
User :   I just took a half of a .5mg of xanax to calm me down now.
Doctor :
ok
User :   I make sure that I eat when I take the tylenol.
Doctor :
ok
User :   To be honest the mess in August changed me into this paranoid person. I hate going to the doctor because they cannot figure out what is wrong with me.
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
for gastritis u take tab prilosec
User :   they said my XXXXXXXX levels were elevated, I do not know how much. I had inflammation in my blood in Aug. the tests were redone in November and they are now lowered. I was screened for lupus but that came out negative. My doctor thought I might have fibromyalgia but the specialist said he did not think so.
Doctor :
ok
User :   When I first got the problem in Aug I took 2 prilosecs a day for 3 weeks and I could not stop vomiting and I couldn't eat. They switched me to Protonix twice a day and I still vomited but I could eat. Once I stopped all meds I could eat and rarily vomit now.
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
so now u are scared about ur chest pain
Doctor :   do u have vomitings even now?
User :   By the way my headache was an exercise headache beacuse I have been feeling so much better lately I thought I could exercise. I got the headache right after that. This is not unusual though I have had them for years.
Doctor :   ok

User :   I am scared of the chains especially because it is on my left side. Sometimes, not today they are on my right side and I notice I am less scared about them. I vomitted 3 times today. The last time about a half hour ago. Not much just like water.
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
fro ur chest pain it might be due to gastritis
User :   Cardiologist ruled me out for heart attack pains
Doctor :   rare cause may be heart related
Doctor :   how they ruled out and when?
User :   Is it possible that I got gastritis so severe for 2 and a half months that it will take months to get over?
Doctor :
yes
Doctor :
gastritis is a chroonic disorder
Doctor :
chronic *
User :   In August I saw the cardiologist and they did stress test, chest xray, ultrasound
User :   So because of my aleve/advil problem it is something I will have to deal with forever?
Doctor :
and taking too many tablets, stress will increase acidity problem
User :   does xanax count?
User :   I know my stress started from the headache on monday because now that I am paranoid I decided to look it up and I was afraid I had a brain tumor.
Doctor :
xanax doesnt have specific effect on acidity
Doctor :
but tylenol do have
User :   I do not take it very much the last time was Monday and before that it had been weeks.
User :   So my situation is better to deal with headache/pain than to take tylenol?
Doctor :   when ever u take tylenol make a poin that u take an antacid also

User :   I'm sorry but it is hard for me to physically understand and not get scared everytime I feel a chest pain. Right now it is not hurting but it feels like its sore though. does that make sense?
User :   Should I take tums now? I have had a few pains today.
Doctor :   u take tums/prilosec/zantac 75mg

Doctor :
any one among them
User :   I have zantac and those do not cause me any problems. I am scared to take prilosec.
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
take any thing u want
User :   So I should not worry about the pains just because they are on my left side today?
Doctor :
anyways u are seing a doctor on monday
Doctor :
ask for an ecg
Doctor :
ECG
User :   Yes I am.
Doctor :
to rule out any heart problem
Doctor :
this is the basic test done
User :   I have done a couple of those and they always come out fine. These pains are not different than the ones prior to my other ecgs
User :   Last one done in Sept.
Doctor :   ok

Doctor :   fine
User :   Does gastritis cause random stomach pains as well. Pains that are at different places and hurt for just a second?
Doctor :   yes may be
Doctor :
but we cannot diganose gastritis only by that
User :   how can that be diagnosed?
User :   my gastroenterologist did an upper and lower gi and said he saw inflammation and I have acid reflux
Doctor :
ok
User :   could he have seen gastritis?
Doctor :
yes
Doctor :   gastritis means nothing but inflamation

User :   ok he just did not say that word though. He just said he saw inflammation.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :
ur problem most probably might be because of gastritis]
Doctor :
'for time being take some antacid as i have already told u
User :   Well I never had any of these kind of issues before the advil/aleve incident
Doctor :
if required doctor u see may prescribe for higher dosage antacid
User :   ok I will take an antacid. Can these chest pains be because of gastritis and I not notice any other issues like acid coming up my throat or anything else?
Doctor :
may be
User :   Also, is it ok to take a zantac the same day I took a tums?
Doctor :
yes u can take both\
Doctor :
advil will increase gastritis
User :   ok I will stay away from advil. hopefully the pains stop so I can calm down.
Doctor :   ok
User :   I'm just unsure becaue my doctor doesn't say it is gastritis anymore and has sent me to a rheumatologist and I have not been able to get any answers from anyone.
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
rheumatologist?
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
then have u seen any rheumatologist?
User :   because my doctor thought I might have fibromyalgia
Doctor :
ok
User :   I did see him and he left me like this too.
User :   He ran blood tests and did a physical exam and said everything looks fine come back in 4 months to redo the blood tests.
User :   No one understands where these pains are coming from and I am the only one that thinks it has to do with my stomach
Doctor :
gastroenterologits have already diagnosed u about ur inflamation
User :   yes he said he saw inflammation and basically said I had acid reflux. I don't think I have acid reflux though because once I stopped the meds all of the acid up my throat disappeared and now I am left with just chest pains and some small stomach pains.
Doctor :   u should believe what the doctors diagnoise
Doctor :
if not u will end up in confusion
User :   I do believe what he said I just think that the acid reflux went away once the medications were stopped. I had it while I was still on the meds and when he checked me. I don't have those same symptoms anymore.
Doctor :   good
Doctor :   for ur stomach pain now
Doctor :
take antacids and stop using any pain killer untill and unless it is requires
Doctor :   even after that if it doesnt come down see doctor
Doctor :
most of the pain killers will increase gastritis problem
User :   ok I guess I did not understand that. I will use the weekend to stop the pain killers and only take antacids and go in on Monday.
Doctor :
good
User :   I took tums about 10 mins ago and now I just felt a pain agian. How long does it take them to work?
Doctor :
and insist on ECG.if possible
Doctor :   it will take 30 minutes to 1 hour to give relief
Doctor :
and one more thing is dont get stressed out rrelax
Doctor :
dont skip a meal
Doctor :
and dont take junk/spicy food
User :   ok thats a good idea.
User :   Is it better for me to take two tums or just take the zantac instead?
Doctor :   u can take zantac 75 mg
User :   ok I will do that then.
Doctor :   i feel u are very much stressed out..this stress itself will increase gastritis
Doctor :   so take tab and relax
User :   I agree that is why I took the half of xanax so I could just calm down.
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
dont get addicted to xanax
User :   I know that is why I use such a small dose and so very sparingly.
Doctor :
good
User :   Ok I just took the zantac and will try and calm down.
Doctor :
good
Doctor :
Is there any thing else I can help you with?
User :   how long does zantac take to work?
Doctor :   1 hr

User :   That is it. Thank you very much.
Doctor :
welcome
