User :   I have pain in my calf I thought it was strained but do not remember hurting it. This strated 10 days ago. I then had an blood test Saterday showing an increased D Dimer test (460). The hospital gave me the heperin Saterday and Sunday I have now been given self injecting heperin but no information or rush seeing the DVT nurse Friday. In fact not even been told how to do the injections. I am young (30) fit and active, none smoker none drinker ride horses and wlak everyday plus all the heavey lifting horse care entails. Ido work at a computer or drive for my job. I do not want to be left with a blood clot for years and the health care staff I have seen today where very dismissive and when I asked about driving, traveling and exercise I was told I probally did not have a DVT and to carry on as normal.
So can I use a cycloid massage unit over the injured leg?
I do not want to take the blood thinners if I am not sick so could I not bother until I have the scan Friday?
Just want some advice before Friday and if I can't find out I will do both the above massage and stop the thinners as a strained calf would benfit from both.
Doctor :   Hello.
Doctor :   Let me read your query.
User :   hello
Doctor :   Do you have pain on pressing the calf?
User :   yes, I also bashed the front of the shin about 3 weeks ago and it is still brusied from the hit. The calf is sore and bruised but especially so round the back and side of the calf at the same level as the brusie on my shin bone
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Were you given any other advises? other than heparin injection.
User :   None other than I could carry on doing my horses and drive over 200 miles on 3 days this week
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Then you can try manual massaging of the calf.
User :   great thank you and can I stop the injections, I was due one today an hour ago but really don't want to take drugs I do not need
Doctor :   If it is prescribed, then you have to take it.
