Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   I am
User :   hello, i would like to ask some questions about post hernia surgery
Doctor :   Go ahead
User :   i recently had a left imguinal surgery
User :   about 3 weeks back
Doctor :   OK
User :   everything was fine untill few days back i started to get biting pain just below the scar
User :   if i just bend towards left i get this pain
User :   but i can lift my legs
Doctor :   ok
User :   what may be wrong
Doctor :   Is there any swelling ?
User :   where
Doctor :   At the area of incision
User :   incision means? below the scar?
Doctor :   it is the same spot of scar
Doctor :   Is there any swelling at the scar area?
Doctor :   Is there any redness around the scar area?
User :   no
Doctor :   Is the scar completely healed ?
User :   just the redness of the stitches
Doctor :   OK
User :   scar is 90 % healed
Doctor :   I assume there is no pus .
User :   ok
User :   the pain is coming from inside
Doctor :   Are your bowel movements are strained or clear?
Doctor :   Ok
User :   just below the scar and beyween the scrotum
User :   well i do have a little bit of constipation problem
Doctor :   You need to use stool softners
Doctor :   Did they gave any prescription
User :   i use cremafin but it creates a lot of gas so i stopped
User :   now i sometimes have yakult probiotic drink
Doctor :   I recommend you to it minimum 2-3 tea spoon at bed time
User :   ok
Doctor :   The other thing there are no signs of infection
User :   when i bend i get the pain but not when i sit on the chair
User :   only while getting up from the chair
User :   do u think the mesh has shifted?
Doctor :   It looks like there is mild strain on surgical area , may be because of lack of bed rest or strain on abdominals muscles while defecating
Doctor :   Do think you are straining abdominal muscles too much?
User :   well my work involves a lot of driving
Doctor :   It is only three weeks post op.
User :   ok, so you feel the mesh cannot shift in three weeks?
Doctor :   it is possible if you too much strain
Doctor :   of there is no proper healing the will be displaced
Doctor :   But this is a rare possibility
User :   ok
User :   because the pain is not constant
User :   it only pain when i bend
Doctor :   You need physical examination to look for any signs of hematome
User :   what is that
Doctor :   *hematoma.
Doctor :   I recommend you take bed rest till you have no pain
User :   ok
Doctor :   If the pain gets worse or if the pain is contunuous then you need to see surgery
User :   but you feel the chance of mesh shifting is low
Doctor :   Yes
Doctor :   It is very low
User :   also my scar is still numb
Doctor :   The in operating the hernia repair is keeping the mesh properly
Doctor :   So the chances of shifting are very low.
Doctor :   I think the pain is from post opearative responce
User :   ok
Doctor :   The pain is coming from healing process.
User :   also my inner thigh is still numb
Doctor :   You need yo have bed rest and keep your stool soft, do not put strain on your abdomen
User :   ok
User :   what about the numbness
User :   is that also normal
Doctor :   There are few complications from surgery, but it tough to predict now
Doctor :   There can be some damage to local nerves

User :   ok
Doctor :   Small damage to nerve can cause numbness
User :   will the nerves heal or is it permanant
Doctor :   But again, the wound is healing so the healing process can produce the symptoms
Doctor :   Wait for few weeks
User :   how many month will it take for the entire hernia to heal
Doctor :   Complete healing takes few weeks
Doctor :   may be around 2 months
User :   ok
Doctor :   Mean while you need to be carefu;
Doctor :   *careful
User :   so you feel this pain will be there for one more month?
Doctor :   I suggest you to have repeat CT scan
Doctor :   and look for any displacement of mesh
User :   ok
User :   will it detect if the mesh has shifted?
Doctor :   Did I answer ur querries
Doctor :   Yes
User :   ok
Doctor :   I recommend you consult your surgeon after 2weeks and take his opinion.
User :   ok
User :   just one last question
Doctor :   OK
User :   if the nerves are damaged , how long will it take to get back the sense of feeling in my inner thighs?
Doctor :   I don't think there is nerve damage now. If there any continued numbness in scrotal area , then you can suspect
User :   ok
User :   thank for your time
Doctor :   Do not look for bad things
Doctor :   Let the natural process heal first
User :   ok doctor thankyou
Doctor :   Pray God you get better
Doctor :   I hope every thing will be alright.
Doctor :   Side effects like nerve damage can happen but are rare
Doctor :   Bye
