User :   We are trying to conceive baby #2. I have a PCOS and was given Clomid to get pregnant with our son. They've given me the same dose as before this time around and I took it cd3-7. I then took an OPK which was positive on March 2. I am now 16 dpo with no menses in sight but I took a pregnancy test two days ago that was negative. Will Clomid help to start my period soon? I know it's a drug to help you ovulate not have your period but I figure since I had the LH surge then I must have ovulated.
Doctor :   hi
User :   Hello
Doctor :   let me read ur query
Doctor :   may i know when your last period was ?
User :   February 13
Doctor :   ok ,
Doctor :   so based on that , you must be due to have your period soon
User :   It should have started either yesterday or today
Doctor :   yes, that is right
Doctor :   in case you are pregnant, and the test you did was done much earlier, then it could be a false negative
Doctor :   the best way to confirm pregnancy would be a blood test to check blod HCG , which is more sensitive than urine preg tests
User :   So then it's still possible that I am pregnant. If so, why does it feel as if my period is about to start. I've been feeling like this for almost a week now.
Doctor :   you can also choose to wait for 2-3 more days, before you go for the test, just in case, you might have delayed periods
User :   How delayed can a period be with Clomid
Doctor :   clomid, can cause more ovum to be released , and this associated with hormone changes can slightly postpone periods by 2-3 days
Doctor :   not more than that
User :   Oh, ok. Thanks for the info.
Doctor :   you are most welcome
Doctor :   is there anything else i can help you with ?
User :   Nope I'm good. Guess I have to wait a couple more days to see if the pregnancy test is negative. If so, should I get Provera to start menses?
Doctor :   in case, your test for pregnancy is negative, then provera can be used to induce withdrawal bleeding (that is periods)
Doctor :   take care and have a good day
Doctor :   bye for now
