Are you a gynac?
Sorry, I am a General physician but I can help you withing my expertise
This has been the case every since I got my periods
May I know your age?
I'm 31 yrs old
I got married about 6 months back and I'm worried that I may not be able to concieve
Is this Divya?
I had visited a gynac after my wedding and she put me on contraceptive pills which she said would regularize my periods
XXXXXXX let me tell you first
Losing weight is THE rule in PCOD
Are you overweight?
i'm 60 kgs
and 5'2 in height
Your weight seems to be normal
Do you know your BMI?
can u give me a min, i'll be right back
Take your time
I will wait
Your BMI is 24.2 which is normal
how do u calculate the BMI?
Contraceptive pills do help in PCOD
it is weight in kgs divided by height in metres square
but the contraceptive pills also made me gain weight
I was 52 kgs before wedding and now I weigh 60
That is right
Getting treated for PCOD requires your full dedication towards it
You need to follow healthy eating habits and exercise regimen
Also, you need to constantly follow up with the doctor
It is easily treatable
But requires patience
Eventually you will get rid of the PCOD
I do not have thyroid problem. Its only PCOS
does Homepathy help in curing PCOS?
the effectiveness of homeopathy treatment is not clinically proven
The reason being my husband believes that homeopathy has a cure for it. Although I've told him that I tried homepathy earlier and it did not work on me.
You can give it try once if your husband is insisting on it
I am currently taking homeopathy medicines for the last 3 months but haven't had a single cycle so far
When was your last menstrual period?
and this was induced through the contraceptive pills that I was taking
Are you taking the contraceptive pills now?
she asked me to stop the contraceptive pills after that cycle, after which I haven;t had a single cycle
no I'm not taking any contraceptive pills now
You should go for a follow up again with the doctor
to look for any cysts
yes I know but that was when my husband insisted that we try homepathy
As I said earlier, the effects of homeopathy are not clinically proven
You may give it a try however
From the beginning I have had very irregular cycles
it would delay 6-8 months sometimes
I want to know how will it effect my pregnancy?
One needs to have regular menstrual cycles to get pregnant
And ovulation is a must for pregnancy to occur
Irregular cycles are most of the times a hindrance in causing pregnancy
if you are thinking about pregnancy, you need to get evaluated sooner and get treated
We need to look for causes of an-ovulation
we are not looking at pregnancy immediately. But I would want to get treated immediately before we start trying
That is a wise decision
That is why I am suggesting you to go for an evaluation now
I have another question as well
what should be the frequency of having sex when we want to start trying for pregnancy?
Having intercourse thrice a week would be ideal
Is there anything else you would like to discuss?
Are you there?
Is there anything else you would like to discuss?
what should be the frequency of having sex after the wedding?
There is no said frequency for this
If a couple are wanting a baby, then they should have intercourse atleast thrice in a week
The reason why am asking this is that earlier it used to be 4-5 times a week, now a days having it 2 times a week also has become difficult.
He is tired most of the times in the night and in the morning I have to get up early and go. So we are not getting a chance
When do you plan to have a baby?
atleast after another 6-8 months
i got married last Oct. I want to start trying after a year. I'm not sure on when I'll concieve given that I have irregular periods
Yes, I understand that
So, you need to get started now
get started now???
Start planning now itself so that it would not be late
Yes, meaning, get evaluated by a doctor
Do lifestyle changes
like healthy eating habits
The exact cause of your irregular periods need to be found out
I doubt if it is PCOD at all
isn't PCOD the exact cause?
Your weight is normal
There are many other causes too for irregular periods
It is PCOD. I have got scan done and the doctor was able to see cysts
Then, the cysts are to be treated medically till the cysts regress
Do a repeat ultrasound to look for any cysts in the ovaries now
what can be the other causes of irregular periods?
Hypothyroidism is also a common cause
Defect in the hypothalamo-pituitary- gonadal axis is also the reason
ok. As advised by you, I will get a scan done and take regualr treatment
All the best to you
