User:Hi Doctor
User:My due date is on 19th March 2012.The last menustral cycle is on 12th XXXXXXX 2011. I have still not got any labour pain. The doctor informed us, if the due date passes by 2 days, they will give medicines to get labour pains. We want to know that if the due date passes and still we dont get any labour pains, what is the procedure that is to be followed. How many days can we wait to get the labour pains? Is there any specific reason for not getting the labour pain, even if the due date passes? When the scan is peformed on 5th march, doctor informed us that the approximate baby weight is 2.5kg,is it the exact weight?what will be the growth of the baby in these 15 days?
Doctor:Let me read your post for few minutes
User:ok sure
Doctor:First i would like to say that the weight on the scan is not accurate
Doctor:it will have an error of about 300 to 500 gms
Doctor:and the about a week to 10 days post due date is safe
Doctor:after that you must go for induction
Doctor:early induction is not XXXXXXX , hence induction after 2 days of due date is fine
User:what is meant by induction
Doctor:the reason for you not getting into labour on due date is near natural, need not worry not everybody deliver on the due date, few days earlier or late is ok
Doctor:induction means inducing or starting delivery medications
Doctor:by medications*
User:after starting the induction,by what time the labour pain starts
Doctor:medications will comprise of iv oxytocin drip and a cervical gel into the cervix
Doctor:after starting the induction you may get pains in 4 to 8 hours
User:when the labour pain gets after taking induction, can we take an injection like epidural to get relieve from pains
Doctor:yes, you can
User:after taking induction, will we get compulsory get the labour pains
Doctor:yes, they will increase the dose if you dont get the pains, if you dont get the pains even on increasing the dose then ceaserian section would be a choice
User:what is the chance for cesarian [Till now every test performed is normal and the movements and the amoneitic fluid is good]
Doctor:as for now I could not comment on your chance of going to C section,, it depends on your condition and response to medication during induction
User:what might be the baby growth in these 13 days from 5th march
Doctor:there will be no much growth , need not worry about that
Doctor:could be around 200 to 250 gms
User:ok thanks for the info
