User :   Hi, for over a week-- almost 2-- I've had numbness on the outside of vagina lips. No signs of anything STD related-- nothing 'coming through' the skin, and the skin looks totally normal. I've had this before-- what is it? Background: I've had a IUD for 2-3 years, no longer really get my period anymore-- and if i do, its very very light. Nervous-- could this be herpes or something?
Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hi!
Doctor :   let me read your query
Doctor :   no
Doctor :   this is not herpes
User :   whew!
Doctor :   herpes will present in form of pain and small multiple ulcers
Doctor :   not numbness
User :   could it be from running or sitting then?
User :   or... i can't believe i'm going to say this: but masterbating too much?
Doctor :   yes ,
Doctor :   excess masturbation can cause numbness of the vaginal lips
User :   i guess i had read somewhere that herpes could be preceeded by tingling or burning.. so i couldn't tell if i was feeling 'tingle' or 'numb'
Doctor :   yes, but not numbness
Doctor :   but it always is followed by pain and ulcers
User :   and pain and ulcers would have presented themselves by now since i've had this sensation for well over a week?
Doctor :   herpes causes sensitiviy in the affected skin and dermatome ., not numbness
Doctor :   yes , they would
User :   cool-- i feel much better now!
User :   thanks!
Doctor :   you are most welcome
Doctor :   i hope your questions have been answered
