User :   My left ear has been numb all day on the outside as soon as I got up, and the feeling still hasn't returned (over 12 hours now). This has never happened before and I am getting nervous. Should I be concerned?
Doctor :   Hi,
Doctor :   Did you have any ear infection in the past ?
User :   I used to have them all the time when I was a kid, but I am 31 now and haven't had them since I was young. Thing is, it doesn't hurt at all, it's just numb.
Doctor :   Do you hear ringing sound ( tinnitus) now ?
User :   No
Doctor :   Do you have any discharge from the ear ?
User :   Nope, nothing.
Doctor :   Do you have cold , running nose or nasal blockade ?
User :   No.
Doctor :   Ok, have you used any medication for the same ?
User :   The only meds I take it atenylol
User :   *is
Doctor :   Is that for BP ?
Doctor :   Atenolol
User :   yes. high blood pressure
Doctor :   ok, fine , i would advice you to apply DEBROX drops
Doctor :   three times a day
User :   is that OTC?
Doctor :   it could be due to either impacted wax or due to allergic reaction
Doctor :   yes, it is an OTC
Doctor :   if the drops do not treat the condition then tak Tab Alavert 10mg once in the night for not more than 3 days
Doctor :   avoid cleaning with buds
Doctor :   drops will help here
User :   ok, so i'm not having a stroke? that was a fear of mine
Doctor :   no , not at al there are many other symptoms of a immanent risk of stroke
Doctor :   like nausea , headache , burred vision , tinnitus , giddiness etc
User :   ah, ok....just one more question...i can have an ear infection without my ear hurting and just numbness on the outside of it?
Doctor :   very rarely , as the inside of the ear are very sensitive parts , hence pain would be first symptom
User :   but i do not have any pain, that's the thing
Doctor :   i do not suspect infection here , it probably could be due to impacted wax or an allergic reaction to a allergen like dust or chemical entering into the ear
Doctor :   May be the infections in the past have some role in the triggering of the resent problem
User :   ah ok Dr....i will try those drops....thank you very much for your time
Doctor :   you are welcome
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me
Doctor :   Kindly provide your feedback
Doctor :   Bye for now
Doctor :   Take care
User :   you too...bye...take care
