Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   How can I help you?
User :   what is a nerve devitaliser in root canal
User :   hello
Doctor :   Nerve devitaliser in RCT is a procedure where the pulp tissue which contains nerve(which is cause pain) is
Doctor :   intentionally destroyed.
Doctor :   The pulp material containing the nerve roots are not removed but its function with regards to pain and sensation are lost by this procedure
User :   may i know your name please
Doctor :   I am Dr XXXXXXXX here.
User :   ok doctor i am undergoing RCT in XXXXXX
User :   in my lower jaw tooth
Doctor :   Ok
User :   she has opened the 3 roots
User :   and now one root is giving trouble while filing
Doctor :   Ok
User :   means when she inserts file deep to a certain point it pains like hell
User :   becz the infection si severe deep
Doctor :   Since you have severe pain, nerve devitaliser can /was performed so that the nerve causing pain is intentionally destroyed.
Doctor :   Let me explain this, there are plenty of nerve roots present in the root pulp.
User :   not is is not performed
User :   she said it is the last option and not recommended initally
Doctor :   Local anaesthetics may not be useful in reducing the pain to a great extent to reduce the pain.
Doctor :   Hence in this instance, permanently destroying the nerve roots in the pulp will stop the pain.
Doctor :   You may be asked to continue antibiotics and antiinflammatory drugs for some more time to control the infection.
Doctor :   And a repeat RCT to remove the dead tissues located deep may be performed and filled later.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   yes currently the situation is: she has taken x-ray by which she found infection is deep and we havent reached tht deep
User :   because one root is not allowing to do that deep because the files when touch the tissue pain
Doctor :   Yes.
User :   how is the nerve devitaliser procedure performed
Doctor :   I am general physician and my expertise on dental science is limited, but based on my general medical knowledge,
Doctor :   the procedure is a simple one
Doctor :   in which an agent is injected at into the tooth pulp.
Doctor :   This agent will induce damages on the nerve root, which will block the nerve roots.
Doctor :   The disadvantage is, this can be a permanent one
Doctor :   and the damaged nerve roots may not regain its function, thereby tooth sensation can be lost.
Doctor :   You can discuss with your dentist who will be able to answer this question more appropriately,
Doctor :   Alternatively, you can take a specialist opinion from one of our expert dentist
