My daughter is 2 years old and she has excema from last 1-1/2 years. Suddenlyher her left hand middle finger and right hand first finger(2 months ago) had some infection(finger top skin had become hard) on the top of the finger(dont know the reason of infection) due to which had swelling and puss. Then she had to go thru minor surgery in (Hyderabad,India) to take/clean out the puss on the left hand middle finger and has been dressed for a week. After 2-3 weeks the same wound got worsed again (swelling and puss formation just in 3-4 hrs) and had to go for another minor surgery. Now again after 2 weeks the same infected area started getting puss and swell. This time the pediatric surgeon told us that they might have to take off the nail as the puss is formed a little inside the nail. We have completed blood tests, urine tests etc during these 2 months course. Can any one help us find the root cause or give us a right pediatric surgeon contact and save the child finger. Thanks, XXXXXXXX Manchala

User :   right now we are only focuing on her infection (on fingers)
Doctor :   Usually course of antibiotics will treat the infection
Doctor :   But unfortunely it looks like the infections gonbe to nail bed
Doctor :   Some times it goes into bone
Doctor :   but
Doctor :   The only option is surgery
User :   what if it gets into the nail bed
User :   do we have to go for the bone scanning or MRI?
Doctor :   And the root /nail bed infections are usually stubborn and ur surgeon desion is genuine
Doctor :   Yes you can get bone scanning or MRI to make sure the bone is infected

Doctor :   If it is bone infection , bone scan will show
Doctor :   and if there is bone infection , the treatment will be different
User :   as it has a specfic procedure to complete
User :   ok
User :   what it leads to?
Doctor :   I recommend you consult your previous surgeon and work the problem
User :   if there is a bone infection
Doctor :   Different surgeon will, in my opinion my not be good
User :   my cousin is a Dermatologist, and he suggested couple surgeons..
Doctor :   If there is a bone infection he will scartach the infected bone and give antibitics for 4-6 weeks
User :   oh..then that is another major surgery
User :   ?
Doctor :   This is a simple diagnosis to deal
Doctor :   Yes
Doctor :
if the bone scan/MRI is negative for bone infection'
Doctor :   and because your surgeon is treating as nail bed infection , nail bed removal and use of antibiotic for 4-6 weeks will eradicate the infection
User :   Any good pediatic surgeon on ur mind?
User :   in hyderbad?
Doctor :
User :   OK
User :   we will try to consult
