User :   Hello Doctor, I am pregant for 6 weeks & 5 days. I got an Ultrasound scan today. But there was no gestational sac nor the fetal pole. My doctor has adviced me to check the HCG level again. On 39th day (4th week) I had a 485. I have given the blood and waiting for the result. Could you please tell me why the gestational sac & the fetal pole was not visible in the scan. I am very much worried.

Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :
Let me read it
User :   Okay.. Thanks
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :
Now you should wait for the hcg levels
Doctor :
that is very sensitive marker
Doctor :
to detect whether the pregnancy is active
User :   Okay. Today evening I will be getting the HCG count..
Doctor :
It should be more than the previous reading
User :   Okay.. If my HCG levels are good why in the scan there was no sac and fetal pole..
Doctor :
If it is falling, then it suggests that pregnancy cannot be continued
User :   Will it take time to show in the scan
Doctor :   No, it should have shown at this time

User :   oh.. it means that iam miscarrying???
Doctor :
It suggests that, but should wait for the result
User :   okay.. I got pregnant by IUI...
User :   If at all I miss this cycle.. is it possible to get pregnant again through IUI?
Doctor :   Yes, it is quite possible

Doctor :
but along with external progesterone supplements to avoid miscarriage
User :   Okay.. I was very much worried that I could get pregnany
Doctor :   But for now, it would be ideal to wait for the results

Doctor :
Should not panic
Doctor :
And if Hcg is favoring pregnancy then transvaginal ultrasound has to be done
User :   Okay Doctor..
User :   Thank you Doctor... I will wait for my results....
Doctor :   Is there any thing else I can help you with?

User :   Nothing as of now... Thank you very much...
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting HealthcareMagic. Bye for now. Please refer your friends to our service.
User :   Sure.. Thanks
