Doctor :   hi
Doctor :
how can i help you?
Doctor :
please proceed with your health query
Doctor :
are you there?
User :   Thank you. I have a question about a recurring imbalance/dizziness episode I have. It has happened for the past three months. About 10-14 days before menstration (bleeding) begins, I experience the imbalance/dizziness. It lasts until a day or so after bleeding stops. I feel like I have spatial issues or that my brain can't keep up with my eyes thus causing the dizziness/off balance. One month it was really severe and I experience a "flash" of sort where it seems my brain shut off for a nano second.
Doctor :
please give me sometime to read through what you have typed
User :   I am 42 in perfect health and a recent blood and thyroid test came back perfect.
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
what is your menstrual cycle like?
Doctor :
how many days? 28 , 30, 35 days? or more?or less/
Doctor :
how many days bleeding do you have?
User :   has always been 2-3 days of bleeding and not heavy. cycle is 27 days, no pain, they are easy periods
Doctor :
do you also suffer from breast tenderness, nausea, and fatigue at the time of these dizzy spells?
Doctor :   the next time this happen i would like to suggest you to do a EEG test and a hormonal workup done to see if there are any changes in the brain signals
User :   no fatigue, but i have felt slightl nausea. breast are not tender, but actual seem fuller
Doctor :
and to see if the hormones shoot up too much during this period
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
the explanation for this could due to the hormonal surge that happens in a womans body at the time of ovulation.
Doctor :   which is responsible for the release of egg, and breast symptoms, fatigue
Doctor :
but in your case if during the ovulation time, the hormones shoot up more than the normal, then we can contribute this surge to be
Doctor :
responsible for the dizzy spells during that time
Doctor :
this correlation can be checked by doing the above mentioned tests that i have advised
Doctor :   have you followed what i have said?

User :   should i get the egg and hormone work during the dizzy episode?
User :   sorry, that is eeg
Doctor :
yes, during the dizzy episode or just after teh dizzy episode, EEG should be done
Doctor :
along with the hormone workup
User :   and what hormone would you suspect would be the culprit?
Doctor :
hormone work up will include FSH, LH, Prolactin, DHEA levels
Doctor :   estrogen and progesterone levels
Doctor :   we cannot say for sure, but once we have the results of both EEG and blood tests, then we can correlate what could be the cause
User :   do you think it is possible that the dizzy is unrelated to my cycle and that the cycle exgerates an underlying condition?
Doctor :
if you have any underlying condition like thyroid imbalance or a vertigo
Doctor :
then may be the hormone surge during your menstrual cyce can aggravate it
Doctor :
but as you said, your recent thyroid workup was fine
Doctor :
so i do not suspect the thyroid to be teh culprit
User :   what does eeg stand for? and what does it test? go to my general practioner for this?
Doctor :
do you have vertigo?
User :   no, nothing spins around me
Doctor :
yes you should go to your general practioner or PCP for this
Doctor :
and EEG stands for
Doctor :
electroencephalogram
Doctor :
it is like an ECG/EKG but it measures the signals in brain
Doctor :
electrical signals in brain to be specific
Doctor :
