Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   ok
User :   hi
Doctor :   proceed
User :   Did she go through menopause after they removed her uterus?
Doctor :   Let me explain you !
Doctor :   ok
User :   ok
Doctor :   menopause means cessation of female reproductive activity
Doctor :   stoppage of monthly ovulation cycles
User :   How does that affect the hormones?
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   actually there are 2 ovaries in female reproductive system
User :   yes
Doctor :   which shed 2- 3 ovums per each cycle
User :   ok
Doctor :   and the number of ovaries will be limited
Doctor :   there are controlling hormones from pituitary gland(which is located n brain)
User :   yes
Doctor :   called LH and FSH
User :   ok
Doctor :   these 2 hormones maintain ovulation
Doctor :LH-luetinizing hormone
Doctor :   which encourages the ovulation
Doctor :FSH- follicular stimulating hormone
Doctor :   which stimulates the follicle
Doctor :once the limited ovums are over then LH FSh levels will go up
Doctor :   but there will be no follicle to get stimulated
Doctor :   so these hormone levels will go up
Doctor :   so by estimating the LH FSH levels
Doctor :   we can diagnose the menopause laboratory basis'
Doctor :ok
Doctor :So high levels of LH and FSH indicates menopause
User :   so, because she still has both ovaries, she could be reaching a point that the LH and FSH levels are just now changing and showing physical effects.
Doctor :   she might already in her menopause
Doctor :   these symptoms usually start from climacteric phase
Doctor :   which is the phase before menopause
Doctor :   which can be presented with irregular menstrual cyales
Doctor :   like
Doctor :   once in 2- 3 months
User :   So would any of these symptoms occurred after the uterus was removed?
User :   She has not had a menstral cycle since she was 30
Doctor :   But in this case she dont have uterus , so she cannot appreciate this phase because of lack of cycles
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   Do you understand
User :   So, changes in the LH and FSH levels could be occurring now because the ovaries are stopping?
Doctor :   when ovaries stop functioning ( ovums are over ), then there will be no Estrogen release
Doctor :   Yes exactly
User :   Will she require estrogen supplements?
Doctor :   Estrogen is a safe hormone
Doctor :   which strengthen bones , prevents females from heart diseases
Doctor :   but once menopause attains females will have less estrogen level because of lack of ovulation
Doctor :   so they will be at risk for many problems
Doctor :   yes , she probably needs that
User :   ok
Doctor :   Bone pains , hot flushes , emotional lability and vaginal dryness
Doctor :   these are common among those symptoms
Doctor :   Does ahe have any of above mentioned symptoms
Doctor :   ?
User :   The problem is that she has had these symptoms for 15 plus years. Only the bone pains have increased. She has had hot flashes, emotional liability, and vaginal dryness since she was forty.
User :   But she claims they are much worse now.
Doctor :   yes
User :   So, she probably does need to be tested and checked for any needed estrogen.
Doctor :   she had hysterectomy at her very young age , which definitely had some impact on ovarian blood supply which made her overies less functional
Doctor :   Thats why she attained menopause at an earlier age
User :   How soon after the uterus was removed do the ovaries start being affected?
Doctor :   there is no need for confirmation , but addressing her physical symptoms(bone pain, vaginal dryness) by giving proper medication is very important
Doctor :   It varies from patient from patient
User :   ok
Doctor :   there is no such Quoted period
Doctor :   but these people get menopause at earlier than normal people
Doctor :   usually Indian female get their menopause by 45-55 years
Doctor :   with some personal variations
User :   ok
Doctor :   but in Usa and other developed countries this average is 50-56 years
Doctor :Do you understand
User :   yes
User :   thank you
Doctor :ok
