Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   Dr XXX here
Doctor :   how can i help you?
User :   Hi, I took norethisterone for a few days at the start of August to stop my period but I had already started bleeding before I started taking the tablets and as it didn't stop the bleeding, I stopped taking it. My period then came and lasted, longer than usual, until 11 August. Should I therefore expect my period 4 weeks from the day I stopped bleeding?
Doctor :   let me read your query
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   so you had your periods for around 9 days?
User :   that was easy - i thought my period was late and could be pregnant
User :   yes, about 9 days
Doctor :   Your next period may be due in about 25 - 28 days then
Doctor :   there will not be more than that difference
User :   ok, i did a pregnancy test today and it was negative, I assume I can trust the result as it's been 28 days since i stopped bleeding?
Doctor :   so expect your next period, around 8th or 10th september
Doctor :   yes
User :   ok, thanks for your help
Doctor :   But are you on any contraceptives ?
User :   no and I had unprotected sex during the month
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   In future, you can use emergency contraceptives that can be taken upto 72 hrs after unprotected sex, to prevent pregnancy
