Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hi doctor
Doctor :   How can I help you?
User :   I have a challenging situation and am looking for answers secondary to my condition.
User :   First, I have Lyme Disease and have been in treatment for almost a year now.
Doctor :   Ok
User :   But, I keep having complications with my treatment.. Unable to tolerate certain supplements and medications, I feel like I need to find the problem before my treatment will go smoother.
User :   Might be a shot in the dark, but it's the only way I can try to find answers right now.
User :   Mainly, I can't tolerate any supplements that seem to deal with the HPA.
User :   even Zinc..
User :   and I have what seem to be water retention issues
User :   but instead of swelling, it's like the fluid gets juiced from me.
User :   I was on a medication called Plaquenil, and it caused a reaction no one has heard of.
Doctor :   Ok
User :   about 7 days into it, I started to feel really exhausted and noticed my skin was very soft
User :   so soft I had mattress markings all over my body.
User :   my skin became so brittle a tiny scratch would break it open.
User :   does that sound like water retention...?
Doctor :   Do you have any problems while passing urine?
User :   No pain, but occasionally a difference in flow..
User :   like it seems like it's harder to pee sometimes.
Doctor :   Do you have any other medical illness apart from Lyme
Doctor :   *Lyme's disease?
User :   I'm worried about auto-immune issues caused by, or apart from Lyme.
User :   but no diagnosis.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Fluid retention issues are seen in kidney problems, cardiac failure or hormonal issues..
User :   I've had my kidney's checked, and they said they were fine.
Doctor :   Skin breaking alone with no other previous medical illness suggesting these organ disturbance can't be explained by water retention.
User :   I have something to add.
User :   When taking a supplement called Saw Palmetto, I had the same skin reaction within 3 days of taking it.
Doctor :   If your kidney functions including serum osmolality, urine osmolality are normal, then it rules out water retention issues.
User :   My veins were bulging very big on Plaquenil.. a couple days before the mattress incident happened.
User :   What does that tell me?
Doctor :   Easy skin bruising may have been probably due to the drug (plaquenil) and may not be due to water retention.
Doctor :   Did your symptoms reduce after stopping/completion of the medications?
User :   No.. I've been in a state of misery prior and currently past that..
User :   I'm very scared right now about trying to help myself.
User :   Because it seems like any supplement that is supposed to help me is working negatively against me.
User :   Especially anything that is directed toward supporting the thyroid or adrenals.
Doctor :   May I know what the other symptoms are apart for skin breaking?
User :   Chest wall pain and difficulty breathing (not the lungs) but inflammation of the nerves, fatigue, trouble exercising, dull and sharp pain all over body, trouble focusing, memory problems, visual trails, vein pressure and headaches
Doctor :   Since when have you noticed all these symptoms?
User :   Last year, after I got sick.. I came down with some type of flu that left me with cold feet and hands that has never gone away completely.
User :   Then I was diagnosed with Lyme disease, positive for Bartonella infection and Babesia malarial infection
User :   I've been on an antibiotic cocktail trying to combat this.
User :   I have reduced my bartonella symptoms greatly, but still am positive for Babesia
Doctor :   Have you seen a doctor for your current symptoms ?
User :   Yes, but I can only see him every 6 weeks, and we don't have too much time to talk about everything I go through
User :   I have to be my doctor unfortunately.
User :   but he is the one who decides what antibiotics I use to combat this.
Doctor :   Do you have anxiety issues?
Doctor :   Are you there?
User :   yes
User :   I had to reload sorry
User :   I had serious anxiety issues.. but with bartonella treatment on Bactrim, most of that is gone.
Doctor :   Ok
User :   however, I still go through depression episodes related to my illness, but I believe flare more with my Babesia symptoms.
User :   I am 100% sure there is cognitive impairment and mental issues with my disease.
User :   and CNS problems.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   May I know if you have been evaluated for the current symptoms (apart for the initial episode when the infections where detected)?
User :   I had a CT recently for my dizzy spells (i think were brought on my increase in Minocycline). They did CT of head and neck area, and found nothing.
User :   They don't seem concerned about blood flow, but I cannot discern my problems from nerve issues or vasoconstriction.
Doctor :   Can you confirm your age?
User :   27
Doctor :   Let me brief you.
Doctor :   As your symptoms have been chronically present, I am uanable to pinpoint a cause without a physical examination or tests.
Doctor :   There are few possible conditions that include, blood disorder, endocrine problems as well as stress and anxiety factors that may be contributing to the symptoms.
Doctor :   If you have the reports of the evaluation that you have previously done, I would suggest you to send the copy to us.
Doctor :   you can send them to YYYY@YYYY
Doctor :   I shall go through them and send you my opinion on the condition through an email.
User :   Thank you. I have just another question or two.
Doctor :   Yes,
Doctor :   Proceed.
User :   If I'm having trouble breathing, but the lungs sound fine, then what is the suggested 2nd cause? the nerves?
Doctor :   Shortness of breathe can occur due to pulmonary problems, heart failure secondary to heart diseases, renal disease or anaemia.
Doctor :   They can also occur
Doctor :   in times of hyperventilation - when one is breathing too fast and too hard.
User :   Ok, and lastly
User :   what would cause veins to vasodiolate when taking a drug like Plaquenil?
Doctor :   Plaquenil doesn't produce dilatation of the blood vessels.
User :   it did for me.
User :   my veins were noticably 400% larger in my arms.
Doctor :   unless if it was a severe allergic reaction.
User :   then the mattress markings werent water retention, but rather a histamine reaction?
Doctor :   That sounds more probably, but since, I haven't examined you during the time of that event,
Doctor :   I cannot 100% say, that it was an allergic event.
