User :   my 2 yr old has been complaining abt her stomach hurting for awhile and I just noticed a lump just below the center of her rib cage what could it be?
Doctor :   Hi
User :   hello
User :   thank you for responding
User :   pls see my question above
User :   she is 26 months old
User :   has no real symptoms etc
User :   just has randomly mentioned her tummy hurting
Doctor :   For how long he has been complaining stomach aches?
User :   and this am I noticed a lump
User :   maybe about 3 wks
User :   just here and there she will say my tummy hurts
User :   I do not know for sure because it seemed to have no root cause
User :   so I thought it was just something she was saying
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   Where is the lump?
User :   her language is good but normally not that desciptive
User :   just below the area her ribs come together in the center
User :   and i can only feel it when she moves a certain way
User :   it is small like pea sized
Doctor :   Make her cough, whether it increases in size?
User :   ok 1 sec
Doctor :   sure
User :   i did not notice that it increaseed in size
Doctor :   move the lump? Is it moving or fixed?
Doctor :   Is it soft?
User :   it increases in size or becomes more noticable when she flexs her ab muscles
User :   when they become active
User :   it is hard
User :   seems fixed
Doctor :   ok
User :   non movable
Doctor :   Pull with skin
Doctor :   Does it come with skin ?
User :   no
Doctor :   ok
User :   it does not
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   liver , speen, stomach are the organs located at that place. But they will not cause a visible lump that is fixed and hard. They are not visible because hey are deep organs.
User :   it seems attached to her breast bone or rib cage
Doctor :   So what left are muscles, and bones
User :   it traces down from the bones or cartilage in that area
User :   it has a slightly soft consistency they her ribs though
User :   it just randomly hangs tho from the pt at which her ribs come together
User :   slightly softer concistency I meant
Doctor :   Any overgrowth of fat tissue called Lipoma is present in skin and moves
Doctor :   it is soft and mobile
User :   ok by pinching of the skin with it
User :   hers seems fixed
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   so it may not be lipoma
User :   attached to the bottom of the rib cage even
Doctor :   Fibrous tissue over growth called Fibroma is attached to skin and it is hard in consistency , does not moves
Doctor :   This could be the case
User :   ok
Doctor :   Some times in growing children, the ends of ribs have cartilage which looks likes beads
User :   ok
Doctor :   These cartilage attached to sternum
User :   its inside her abdomen also not on the surface
User :   ok
User :   what would cause her to complain of pain
Doctor :   OK
User :   is it something totally unrelated?
Doctor :   I am trying to get what the kind of lump
User :   ok
Doctor :   I think it is fibroma or ends of ribs
User :   ok
Doctor :   or it could be be hernia
User :   shd I take her to the doctors immediately?
Doctor :   The child needs physical examination to conform the diagnosis
User :   ok
User :   shd I be worried abt cancer?
Doctor :   If the doctor could not come to diagnosis, Ultrasound will confirm the diagnosis
Doctor :   In a normally growing child, with no symptoms, with no nausea, no vomiting, no loss weight, no diarrhea, I do not think it is a cancer
User :   ok
User :   she has loose bowel movements frequantly
Doctor :   To be honest with you , many things which appear abnormal to parents turn to normal after examination
User :   but none of the other symptoms
Doctor :   ok
User :   not pure diarrhea either tho
User :   this might be me reaching
User :   ok
User :   that makes sense
User :   thank you I will take her to the doctor this am
Doctor :   To summarize, it could be normal growth tissue, but needs to be examined by pediatrician to make sure what it is .
Doctor :   Thank you for consulting me
User :   ok
User :   thank you
Doctor :   Glad to chat with you
Doctor :   Please leave your feed back after the chat
Doctor :   Thank you
Doctor :   Have a nice day
