User :   My blood pressure is 96 over 69, HR 69. I have heart palpitations, shortness of breath and am sweating alot and feel dizzy. The doctor has put me on lopressor. The symptoms seemed to have sudsided, but the are now back and worse at night when I lay down.
I am even afraid to go out for a run or to exercise. What could it be?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   I am Dr.XXX here
Doctor :   Let me read your query
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Was an EKG done?
User :   Blood pressure has always been low all my life and heart rate has always been high. but no symptons. When i run my heart rate could get up to 200+ and would feel fine. only in the last 6 months have i begun to experience chest pains. and ekg was done and was normal
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   If the EKG is done and fine
Doctor :   it does rule out any cardiac abnormalities
Doctor :   palpitations, the other possibility is due to anxiety
User :   some anxiety but no worse than other times. why would the symptoms be worse at night
Doctor :   Yes, it becomes symptomatic on going to bed
User :   having only an ekg done can rule out any cardiac abnormalities?
Doctor :   It is the first screening procedure
Doctor :   which detects any acute changes in the heart like infarction, arrythmias
Doctor :   for further testing and evaluation
Doctor :   echocardiogram shall be done
Doctor :   to assess the pumping capacity of the heart
Doctor :   with the visualization of contraction of all the heart chambers
Doctor :   later, to confirm if it is safe to stress your heart
Doctor :   which happens during exercise, mental tension
Doctor :   a stress test shall also be done
User :   i not one to go to doctors and go for routine physicals, i do not like to take medications, and actually stopped taking the lopressor for a week. yesterday went out for short walk and my chest began to hurt, tightness in my chest, and sweating profusely. did not feel well at all. i have to exercise as i have packed on 15 pounds since this whole thing started and i am afraid to start. should i wait until i have stress done? i used to work out 5 days a week, cardio, spin classes, weight lifting and yoga. not your average work out routine.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   You should repeat an EKG
Doctor :   and get a stress test done
Doctor :   it is recommended
Doctor :   as a preventive health check up
User :   can a ekg pick up abnormalities after the symptoms have passed?
Doctor :   It is ideally picked up during the symptomatic stage
Doctor :   and with repeat EKGs
Doctor :   to assess the progerss
Doctor :   'progress
