User :   Hello I have been looking over my blood results for the past year, and I have somethings that I would like to meaning to. I am 29 female currently pregnant at 5 1/2 weeks. The past 2 blood tests that I have had, show low platelets first one at 135 and newest one at 137. The newest one show that I have low RBC as well. Also on all but one of my test throughout the year wich is about 9 I have had an Est Creat Clearence that has been unable to be calculated. I am really worried about these results. Can you please shine some light on these for me?
Doctor :   HI,
Doctor :   Dr XXXXX
User :   hello Dr.
Doctor :   Please give me couple of minutes to read your post
User :   alright thank you
Doctor :   May i know your age please ?
User :   29
Doctor :   Did you get the hemoglobin test along with the tests you underwent ?
User :   yes and they are within normal limits, at all times.
Doctor :   Good, may i know the recent RBC count of yours ?
User :   3.98
Doctor :   The platelet counts and the RBC counts can be considered normal
User :   alright, is that because they are not that far from normal?
Doctor :   because in pregnancy heamodilution occurs the result of which the counts are apparently low
User :   alright, that makes since, even in early pregnancy?
User :   usually my platelets have ran in the 170's - 150's unless I was ill
Doctor :   Yes, since its in the early days compensatory increase in production of platelets and RBC will take time ,
Doctor :   when near to the due date of delivery the counts will resume normal
Doctor :   if the nutrition is good
User :   ok what about the other the creatinine clearance?
User :   this has me really worried, as I have read things on the internet that suggest that this is bad
Doctor :   How do you say that the CRt Clearence not been able to calculte ?
Doctor :   was it mentioned so in the report ?
User :   that is what is on my lab results
User :   every time but once
User :   the BUN is usually normal and the creatinine blood is usually within normal limits
User :   but the creatinine clearance says that it is low and unable to calculate with no referance on the lab results
User :   it was high one time at like 147
User :   but that is the only time
Doctor :   Then the problem encountered in calculating the result would be due to adequacy of the sample
User :   I usually put out a good sample. I fill the cup as they tell me too
Doctor :   Is it that you give 24hour urine sample?
User :   ok, I have severe panic attacks, and all this is worrying me and I am thinking that i have cancer or something major going on. I had a heart XXXXXXXX in nov 2009 because I was convinced it was my heart and it was all normal. No, that was just in the ER
User :   but like I said I have read that these results could be really bad
User :   ?
Doctor :   Why are you thinking of cancer, no need to be worried for that
User :   because when I see results for test I will research them, and low platelets point to lympoma and lukiemas and then the unable to be calculated creatinine points to cancer as well along with kidney function
Doctor :   During the pregnancy the blood counts fall down and they do not necessarily point out to lukemias
User :   i just want to undestand why my results always say this, and if I should be seeing specialliest in regards to these results. a hemotologist or a kidney speciallist
User :   is there a chance that the blood results could point to cancer?
User :   what about the creatinine?
User :   i need to make since of all this, it is driving me nuts, and I worry constantly
Doctor :   It is common for the blood levels to fall down bot sometimes some deficiency results in non utilization of the RBC,s and falling of blood levels.
Doctor :   You should consult a hematologist for your complete examination.
User :   alright should I be doing this soon?
Doctor :   Creatinine is something to be observed but it cannot point directly to luekemias.
Doctor :   Yes you should consult a hematologist soon
User :   ok why would the creatinine be unable to be calculated?
User :   wow, now i am even more scared
User :   do any of these results suggest cancer or blood disorders?
Doctor :   No they do not directly point out this.
User :   what does that mean? does that mean that it could be realated to cancer? and not my pregnancy?
User :   at no time has the hospital told me that i need to follow up with any of these results
Doctor :   There are many reasons that creatinine cannot be caloculated as some infection, incorrect samples, procedure not done adequately
User :   so the my blood levels are not of high concern then, it is more the creatinine levels
Doctor :   Both are equally concerned and has to be treated accordingly.
User :   I dont understand what this means, should I be severely concerned about this
User :   ?
User :   i am freaking out about all this. at the beginning you told me that the blood results are due to pregnancy and acted as though the creatine was alright, and now I should see a hematologist asap
Doctor :   You do not have to be apprehensive for anything, its just that pregnancy causes low blood levels.
Doctor :   Also it can be treated well by medications
User :   what can the blood results ?
Doctor :   Creatinine also has to be observed.
User :   would a hematologist be able to oversee the creatinine?
Doctor :   Your blood levels would be observed and if required you may be given injectable form of iron.
User :   so this may be an anemic thing then
