Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hello
Doctor :   How can I help you ?
User :   I have recently done liver function test
User :   twice in a gap of 2 months
User :   in both the tests my SGPT count is little elevated
Doctor :   Ok
User :   first time it was 55
User :   and 2nd time 53
User :   first time GGT was also little elevated
User :   but 2nd time it came normal
User :   I wanted to know the effects of elevated SGPT
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   could you please help me?
Doctor :   Yes ,
Doctor :   May I know if your SGOT was also elevated ?
User :   no
User :   both the cases it was normal
Doctor :   And how about your S.Albumin and S.Bilirubin ?
User :   both normal
User :   in both the tests
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Usually elevated SGOT/SGPT levels indicate A temporary dysfunction in liver rather than a chronic damage.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Uusally s.albumin indiactes a long term affect like hep. b., or jaundice or heaptitis - chronic or cirrhosis
User :   ok
Doctor :   High S.Albumin indicates those .
User :   ok
User :   in my case all these are within normal limits
Doctor :   If there is high S.Bilirubin it indicates the present state of liver dysfunction or recent liver dysfunction.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Usually a high or elevated SGOT/SGPT levels indicate sometimes muscle damage or temp. hepatitis like Hep.A
User :   ok
Doctor :   Thus, the exact levels of AST (SGOT) and ALT (SGPT) cannot be used to determine the degree of liver disease or predict the future. For example, individuals with acute viral hepatitis A may develop very high AST and ALT levels (sometimes in the thousands of units/liter range). But most people with acute viral hepatitis A recover fully without residual liver disease.
User :   ok
User :   in my case what do you think might have gone wrong?
User :   my cholesterol count is also little elevated
User :   total count is 188
User :   and normal range is till 180
Doctor :   It would be a temporary hepatitis like Hep.A or a severe tiring muscular work out or over exerted exercise regime. Do you have any ?
User :   I do not have a heavy exercise regime
Doctor :   That is not very high and does not correlate with LFT's
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   nor any tiring muscular work
User :   what do you suggest to bring down this SGPT level?
Doctor :   You might have a had a bout of hepatitis which is very sub-normal or not a classical symtomatic disease pattern, so would have showed up like this .
Doctor :   Do you have any history of hepatitis previously ?>
User :   not at all
User :   never had hepatitis earlier

Doctor :   Ok.
User :   I generally do not take any medicine for long
User :   until doctor prescribes
User :   but I never had a long dosage of paracetamol
Doctor :   Or any other medication you want to mention ?
User :   nothing
