User :   My father has got left leg edema.

User :   I tried to give him a diuretics and also wrapped an elastic crepe bandage.

User :   But only during that time it will vanish, But re occurs after a day.
User :   So what is the problem ?

User :   He has got Diabetes since from 10+ years and on Insulin + OHA's

User :   His age is 60 years and he is a retired Junior Engineer in Electricity Company

User :   Serum Creatinine is 1.0

Doctor :   smoke or chew tobacco/drink alcohol/Any illicit drugs/ betel nut chewing?
User :   During 2 year back he got the same symptoms and admitted to hospital as it has turned to post cellulitis lymphedema.
User :   But on the Right Leg

User :   He was taking Alprazolam from last 20 years but stopped when admitted to hospital for this leg edema.

User :   yes it is since from 3 years

User :   doctors assumed it is from the atenolol and changed it . But no changes made to his cough
Doctor :   from the history that you are presenting the most probably causes
Doctor :   could be cellulitis
User :   So what is to be done for this ?
Doctor :   there are few other cause that can present as this
Doctor :   localized lymphatic obstruction
Doctor :   popliteal cyst
User :   So can you please tell me what to be done for this
Doctor :   i would suggest that your father be evaluated by a cardiologist
Doctor :   who after physically examining and getting certain investigation
Doctor :   will come to a better prognosis and treat accordingly
Doctor :   i mean better diagnosis
User :   should be given any antibiotics untill the diagnosis
User :   he has lost almost 70 percent of the sensation in his both leg
Doctor :   may that may need culture and sensitivity to be done
User :   And sometimes report the pain and inflamation in the below foot area
Doctor :   so as to determine the sensitivity of the organism

Doctor :   you may be knowing one of the long term complication of diabetes is phgeripheral neuripathy
User :   yes I know that

Doctor :   that is the reason that your father may be having this loss of sensation

User :   yes Ok. But right now what I can do to prevent further complications happening
User :   And can you also tell me what are the tests that needs to be done as the cardiologist suggests.
Doctor :   to start any drug in your father needs to started with caution as there seems to be compromised cardiac functions
Doctor :   ECG, Echicardiography, blood culture and sensitivity
